Close call in Gibraltar

Heres a timely reminder for Au/NZ cruisers when cruising overseas.

Independence of the Seas was docked at Gibraltar, next to an oil tank, which caught fire. The ship dropped the ropes and straight away went into the bay to anchor.

WOW... what a close call. Could have been nasty.

That could have been very nasty. Thank goodness the IOS was able to get out safely.

Glad it happend this week and not in a couple of weeks time as we leave on Wednesday to catch the Independence on the 11th June im sure we will be fine:Dwe are really looking forward to this trip

Wow how scarey woul'd that have been if you were on board:confused: thanks for posting that David. I'm sure we will have a great time we are going to Rome and Florence and doing private tours with some of our cruise critic friends so will post and let you know how it all went.

Top marks to the Captain for moving the ship so quickly. I did read that 2 passengers were left ashore, but he anchored in the bay and they were picked up and brought back to the ship.
