Juneau, City bus to glacier

Can you still ride the city bus to the Medenthal glacier? If so, what is the cost and where do you board the bus?

Thanks for your help.

You can ride the city bus, which is cheap but drops you off quite far from the glacier. There is a blue school bus type shuttle that is $16 pp round trip. It will take you right to the parking lot like a tour bus would. I don't have the location for boarding but I was told it is right beside the pier.

Wow! We rented a car for $45 for the 4 of us from Rent A Wreck. We drove to Mendenhall, out to a local favorite for the best halibut and chips and drove the main highway from one end of Juneau to the other (stopping at the catholic shrine - free and beautiful scenery and beach full of rocks!). The best $45 we could spend to see what we saw!

How late does the blue bus run. We are getting back from an excursion at 6pm. Will we have time to take the bus to the glacier?

According to the website it runs every 30minutes from 9am until 6pm.

You could 18 months ago it left from the road along from where the cruise ship docks---cost was 414 return. Tickets available on bus. Good value & service. Suggest you check the web for more info

We just rode the MGT Blue bus to Mendenhall Glacier. We got off the bus and walked a block to the tour booths across from Mt. Roberts Tram. $16 per person for roundtrip.

This is the best way to go to glacier. We found out the local bus stops 1 1/2 miles away.

So this is not the local bus we took.

It runs every half hour and driver gives you a tour along the 14 mile trip.
