Air to Tahiti ?

We are booking the Dec 10 cruise...The Air Tahiti Nui site shows only one flight getting into Tahiti at 11 Pm but the ship sails at 10. On the 9th it leaves LA at 23:50 and arrives 6:20 am on the 10th. Does the PG use a charter?

The PG will put you on the flight that arrives at 11pm and just leave later at 12.00

They dont usually have a charter.

If you want the overnight flight then its a deviation. We are leaving a day earlier so we have a chance to unwind at the IC

What they are also doing is flying in passengers on the overnight flight the day before. It arrive around 6 on the morning of your departure, so you will be transferred to a day room and you can board at 3 pm. This is what is happening with our November 19 cruise. In any event, if you use Paul Gauguin for your flight arrangements they will hold the ship based on the planes landing schedule.

We are on the same cruise : )

I thought about the same question. I did ask the TA about this and she said they just hold the ship for the ones coming on the late flight. First stop is Huahine, PG can make that run in about 7 hours so we would still get there on time if the ship left at lets say 1:00 am.

That's what they used to do. We are on the June 18 cruise and have dealt with this issue. When we discussed the issue with PG in March they have not contracted any other flights other than the 4:25 PM flight. If we took the overnight flight, we would have to pay an air deviation fee ($100 per person). We opted to fly in a day early on the 4:25 PM flight and book a 1 night hotel package with PG ($225 per person).

I had tried to get this question answered when I booked the cruise since you can easily see there are only two flights on ATN from LAX.

Perhaps it varies by cruise, but we already have our air schedule through PG and we leave LAX at 11:50 pm on November 18, arrive in Papeete at 6:20 am on November 19, transfer to a day room at the Intercontinental and then transfer to the ship later the same afternoon.

According to the 2012 brochure, cruises to the Tuamotus use the overnight flight. All other cruises leaving from Papeete use the afternoon flight. Perhaps that is the difference between your two itineraries.

We are doing the Cook Island cruise. So that may explain it.
