Park at Port of Miami or stay at a hotel that shuttles?

I'm wondering if there is a hotel in Miami that will let you leave your car there for the week (we'll stay pre cruise) and shuttle you to the port? We usually just park at the port and pay the parking but just checked and (if I'm not wrong) parking is $20 a day.

There are several hotels out near the MIA airport that offer cruise parking deals, but most do not offer free shuttle service to POM and none will pick you up after your cruise. Commercial shuttle service is available from many of these hotels for about $10 per person and a cab back to the hotel after your cruise will run about $30 (including tip).

La Quinta East gets mixed reviews but seems to be good enough for lots of cruisers and offers a free shuttle to POM if you arrive in time to sign up. Other popular cruise package hotels includ the Embassy Suites MIA (free happy hour! :D) and both the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites in the Blue Lagoon area near MIA.

Check www.parksleepfly.com and these boards for more suggestions. Good luck! :)

One of the few hotels I've found that shuttles from the hotel to the POM for free is La Quinta East Airport... there are mixed reviews about the hotel and the shuttle - but either way, it sounds like many hotels with free parking are within a $25-$30 cab ride even if you don't shuttle - so if you're cruising for 7 days that would be $140 to park at the port or $50-$60 for cabs to the hotel.

Hello...Has anyone stayed at the La Quinta Inn East near the Miami Port? We will be there for a cruise in Feb 2012. Is it close to the shopping, dining and bars? We did find out they have free shuttle from the airport and also to the Port of Call.

Do not pick a hotel based on getting a free shuttle. Taxis in Miami are not expensive and you will have a greater selection of hotels to pick from if you forget about the shuttle. There is alot of info on this board about hotels close to the Port of Miami.

Besides I don't think LaQuinta is really near the port.

LQ East is not close to shopping, dining options or bars. There is a gas-station "Mart" and a Bennigans type place with bad reviews close by, or the VERY expensive steakhouse inside the Embassy Suites. Lots of airplane noise is your bonus - there is a reason why they are so cheap and offer free shuttles to POM.

Good luck! :)
