Hotel in Tampa

We stayed at Marriott Waterside several times and were happy there. It's close to the pier. It's a full service resort with several choices of places to eat from casual to more upscale. Our room was very comfortable, we're walkers and enjoyed having safe, pretty, level area all around the hotel to walk..... Nice outdoor shopping mall nearby with restaurants, shops etc

Very nice service and pleasant experience.

IMO

(There are several Marriott Hotels in Tampa so when researching, be sure you have the one hear the pier.)

What hotel do you recommend when staying in Tampa - and what website offers the best price. Thanks,

Fredzy:p

We`ve used Priceline for our stays in downtown Tampa near the port. We`ve bid around $60.00 for a 3 1/2 star hotel and stayed at the Hyatt.

That is supposed to be a nice hotel but is the area okay at night, on weekends? I've heard it may not be the safest place as it is in the business district which is deserted at night. Maybe I got bad information?

And, if memory serves me correctly, beneficially, Marriott is smoke-free!!! :)

As a Tampa girl, I would not walk from the Marriott to surrounding restaurants or theaters late at night. There is a trolley and you will be fine riding it. The trolley starts at the Marriott and goes to a restaurant/movie theater area called Channelside. Before and right after dark you are fine! The Embassy Suites is next to the Marriott and is also nice.

If you are concerned and would like to walk you can go just over the bridge. There is a Westin on Harbor Island with a restaurant attached called Jacksons. This is on the residential side of the channel in an upscale neighborhood but still very close to the port.

There is a beautiful Renaissance Hotel at the International Mall. Lots of walking space in that mall and tons of restaurants. Very close to the airport.
