P&O do the right thing.

Recommended Posts

I was looking on the P&O site and noticed that our cruise had dropped

in price by about $800 pp and was not very impressed:(

I rang P&O hoping but not really expecting the best but the person

I spoke to could not do enough for me. Ok we had paid our $400

deposit and I knew we would lose that, but what I didn't want

to lose was our cabin, we had booked a specific cabin. The lady

I was speaking to not only managaed to get us the new price, but

she also managed to keep the same cabin for us. So we are

where we want to be on the ship and $1300 better off:D

I guess it's like being visited by the upgrade fairy tho instead of

an upgrade we get money in our pockets:D now we have more

to spend on drinks and tours:p:D

Yes we booked directly with P&O (back then it was a

better deal then t/a or websites)

Yes we lost our deposit, but we were still $1300 better off.

At least for our next cruise we will have a FCL so if this

sort of thing happens again we wont lose so much.

I don't think it is a matter of P&O "doing that" :)

You can cancel a booking (and lose your deposit) anytime. Having cancelled a booking, you can then make another one. If you make the new booking immediately after cancelling the first one, then I guess you stand a very good chance of getting the old cabin again (but you could not guarantee it - getting close to sailing time , the cruiselines start to "juggle" cabins - anything could happen :) )

But certainly worth trying.

I knew you could cancel and rebook with TAs, but it has to be worth it financially. Our next cruise has some balconies at the same price or a little less (forget now) as outsides, but in this case it's not worth it to change. Besides we hardly the used the balcony last June - the weather was not nice to us. :)

Thanks for the tip Lorrae, I've now cancelled and re-booked. Not the same cabin but just along from it. We only paid $200 deposit cause we got a special with the travel agent, so that's all we lost. Per person price is now $1979 instead of $2872. Bargain.:D

It seems you've done quite a service with your post Seadreams27. We're booked on Pacific Pearl in November and the fares have since come down in price. Because we paid our deposit with the FCD that we bought whilst on the Sun in February, we (well, our TA) managed to cancel our previous booking, then re-book the same cabin (with the same amount of OBC) and we didn't lose our deposit. We ended up saving around $400 all up (once again, we didn't lose our deposit). :) Thanks P&O (and our wonderful TA Maria)!
