Problems with Sapphire and Sky

At least the Sapphire is still moving at slightly reduced speed, although it's not too good for a new ship to suffer any such problems. The shortage of beer is probably the same problem we had on our Sapphire cruise when they ran out of Fosters due to the large numbers of Australians on board. As for the Pacific Sky, surely they can't be making any money out of this ship with the regular refunds to passengers etc with each breakdown. I'm sure P & O will be glad to see departure of this ship from Australia nex year. With the media keen to give maximum publicity to every problem it must be doing a lot of damage to the reputation of P & O Australia.

Pacific Sky has had more than its share of problems the past few years.

We took her last voyage as Sky Princess, San Francisco to Sydney, 9-00, and had a fantastic time.

She is the last passenger ship with steam turbines - and very expensive to run. Short of re-engining ala QE2, I would imagine her days are limited.

We were supposed to be on the current voyage of Sapphire Princess, Sydney to Bangkok, but a double house move caused us to cancel.
