Best beach with shade

Minmounce

Recommended Posts

We have never been to St. Thomas before or the Caribbean for that matter. We have always cruised the Mexican Riviera. This time we are excited to try the Eastern Caribbean itinerary on the Carnival Liberty.

The only problem I need to work around is that I have a sensitivity to too much sun.

Can anyone recommend a beach in St. Thomas that offers shady areas?

We are going to HMC, St. Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk.

I have a cabana reserved at HMC...but am not too sure about the other ports.

Any recommendations?

Most of the beaches have seagrape trees for shade and you can also rent umbrellas. Check the webcam for Sapphire Beach at http://www.sapphireinthesum.com

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I will check into both magen's and sapphire. How far would either of these beaches be from where the Liberty docks?

Sapphire is NE of the port, north of Red Hook (the ferry that takes you to St. John) and Magens Bay is on the west end of the island.
