Juneau state museum - is it worth it?

We'll have time before out main tour in Juneau. Since our day will be whale watching and the glacier, we thought the museum may be a good way to learn more about the town itself. Anyone been?

Sure I've been and I do like it.

 

It is worth a visit for an honest presentation on Alaska life and history.

One really neat aspect of our visit to the State Museum two years ago was an art and photography exhibit of work across the State. Truly an unexpected highlight to our day.

The Alaska State Museum is good, and so is the Juneau Douglas City museum, along with the Capital, a walk by Govener's House, cementery etc etc etc.

Very definitely worthwhile. I have been every time I've been to Juneau. The gift shop is also good. No junk. Be sure to look for a smallish case upstairs with baby stuff.

It is worth a look. It is nicely laid oud out. You can see it in an hour or two. Don't expect to see a huge stae museum. it is smaller than most state museums. i would like to have seen more WWII artifacts.

Totally disagree. We go there every time we visit Juneau. The first time, we spent half a day or more there. It is a great museum.
