Recent US passport applications?

Has anyone applied for a US passport (renewal) lately? If so, how long did it actually take to arrive?

Hi, Back in December it took about 3 weeks. You are in high season now. I would think longer.

I renewed mine in May and it took about 3 weeks. The website said it would take 6-8.

Mine took 2 hours. Couldn't find my passport and was flying international the next morning. Had to take the day off work and drive to Buffalo.

Just got mine back 2 days ago and it took 4 weeks.

Renewed DD's passport on June 13. Received it on June 30.

Still waiting on old passport to be returned.

DW & DD both needed a passport renewal in 4 weeks. We weren't willing to take any chances, so paid the extra fee for expedite service ($60/each if I remember correctly). One was back in 10 days, the other in about 2 weeks using overnight delivery both ways.

A few years ago my DD needed a passport quickly during high season, so she paid extra to get it expedited. Time passed and no passport. Just a couple of days before we left she learned they'd expedited the passport of ANOTHER woman with the SAME NAME! They did get it to her JUST before we all left.

2 weeks to get my kids and I didnt even pay for overnight as they suggest. They sent to me priority mail.

My parents just got passports for the first time. The ordered them in mid-May and got them the first week of June so about 3 weeks total inclucing Memorial Day delay.

We are on the east coast. Applied for ours June 18th and received them today, July 2nd. DID NOT pay for expedited service.:)

My son's renewal (16 yo) took exactly 1 wee several years ago. At that time volume was higher.

My daughther's boyfriend just got his for our upcoming cruise and it took a between 3 and 4 weeks to get here.

We're good here. No cruises planned, but thinking about Christmas in the Caribbean this year.

 

I have a personal answer to my own original question. We ordered a renewal for our son on June 11 and it arrived yesterday--so exactly 3 weeks. We were cutting it a bit close with him leaving for France this Thursday! We did not pay to expeite because in the past, we have received new and/or renewal passports in about 2 weeks. I guess it is high season or the Feds are a bit slower these days...

Those needing to renew in a hurry, take notice:

 

I had to renew my passport again because I recently took DH's last name. I paid extra for expedited service and overnight return delivery. I sent my application in by overnight delivery on Aug 3 and, amazingly, my new passport was delivered to me today, Aug 10!:)

 

I haven't received my new passport card yet, but that's no biggie--my main concern was my passport book.

They didnt make me send in my DD old passport, just filled out the paperwork, showed them the old one and less than 3 weeks later received in mail.

From the day I mailed off my renewal form to the day I go my new passport card was 23 days. That was just last month.

We had one new one, and one renewal last month. New one took 3 weeks, renewal took 4 weeks.
