Looking for NCL Cruise Certificate Help

Long time listener, first time caller (Yea! My first post). :) I’ve not been on a cruise in 15 years and my wife has never been on one. I can't wait!!!!!

I’m mostly a slot player (wife doesn't play much at all). I'm usually $1-$1.50 a pull for 6-8 hours a day. I make 4-6 Casino trips per year and have been rated Ultra at the LV-Hilton, Trop LV, Ameristar Elite, Pearl at M-Life & Platinum at Total Rewards. I’ve got play at other casinos as well. I’ve only recently come to the realization that belonging to so many different casino clubs is probably not the best idea. My goal moving forward is just to stay with Caesar’s/Harrah’s Total Rewards because they have the most properties across the country. I’ve got a tier score of 9,126 which is Platinum. 11,000 is the Diamond (which I where I want to be) tier.

I just got back from Vegas and received a free NCL Casinos at Sea Cruise Certificate from the Tropicana. Stateroom Category is Inside. There are several valid itineraries, but the one that looks most tempting is the 7 Day W. Caribbean on the Spirit from New Orleans this Winter.

I’ve finally talked my wife into going on a cruise. We’re both about 40 and are looking for a romantic trip (leaving the kid at home). :D

Q#1: Does Diamond Tier get you a better room (because of the NCL/ Caesar’s/Harrah’s Total Rewards relationship)? Since I am so close to Diamond, should I wait before I book my Cruise?

Q#2: In two weeks, I will be picking up a free NCL Casinos at Sea Cruise Certificate from the Horseshoe Hammond (Caesar’s/Harrah’s Total Rewards property). I don’t think my wife wants to go on two cruises (yet). Can I combine them for a better room?

Q#3: Should I have my Caesar’s/Harrah’s Host book the trip or just call CAS directly?

Thank you for any help or guidance!!!!!

Hi ccerts,

Congrats on your first post!! Watch out, this place is addictive! lol

Ok I don't know if I have lots of answers for you, but I have a bit of advice, just based on my experience. I started getting MUCH better offers once I became diamond. Currently accepted a balcony on Epic Mediterranean 7 nt. leaving July 31. I had to pay a little under $500 for taxes and port charges (or something like that) plus we chose to upgrade to a spa mini-suite for an additional $100 each. They are funny about letting you upgrade to some types but not others. I really wanted an aft balcony but that wasn't allowed. To upgrade to a full suite would have been about $1000 each.

If you have a wonderful host relationship, you might ask them if they will bump you up to diamond since you're so close. I always say that it doesn't hurt to ask. Depends on the host and the size of the casino. My Louisiana casino hosts are always more accommodating than the Vegas ones. I personally would wait. If it's your first cruise, you want to be able to tell night from day, imho. I feel closed in when staying in the interior staterooms. I just want you to love your cruise and take many more and a balcony is a wonderful and romantic place to enjoy sunsets, eat breakfast, spend some time together without kids underfoot. Just a thought.

I completely agree with your plan to consolidate your play. I would never have found and loved Harrah's properties had Venetian/Palazzo not decided that they don't like their players anymore and yanked most of the offered comps.

I don't know if you can combine them and I would doubt you'd want to get your host to call as they ask you lots of personal info when you call, like your credit card info, etc.

Let us know what you decide and I hope I've been able to help a little.

Bon Voyage!

Liz

Thanks for the advice Liz. Wow 'balcony on Epic Mediterranean 7 nt. leaving July 31'--that REALLY sounds great. Your advice is helpful and I've taken note about your comments regarding the window & balcony.

I did sneak out to Horseshoe and get my 2nd free NCL Casinos at Sea Cruise Certificate. I also managed to achieve Diamond Tier. The CAS rep. said I could combine the 2 certs. I guess we'll see when the time comes.

Since you are Diamond, do you book your cruise through CAS, your Caesar's Host or NCL?

Thanks!!!!!

Book directly with CAS. DH and I each got certificate from local casino (something new) and could combine to upgrade from inside to ocean view. we then paid upgrade for balcony. Always booked with CAS based on play on ship but they seem to be a little "tighter' recently
