party06 Posted July 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Any bars right on the beach? Good locations that will have cheap drinks on the beach? any info appreciated. Headed there in November.
Jolimont Posted July 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2011 Not sure, Grand Cayman didn't strike me as a bar kinda place. Churches everywhere, very clean, over-priced, not a party town by any means. At least that was my impression.
Clamshell Posted July 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 9, 2011 Any bars right on the beach? Good locations that will have cheap drinks on the beach? any info appreciated. Headed there in November. Cayman is not cheap drinking. Cayman is not 'cheap anything'. Breezes is right at the tender area - sit upstairs on the balcony -- order your booze on the rocks - mixers add to the price! If getting rum cakes - get Blackbeard's from the little mall a few blocks into town from the tender area (same mall as Margaritaville)... way better than the Tortuga brand. Might ask a local where a good beach w/cheap bar might be located and take a bus there - bus fare all the way to "Hell" was under $3 USD (but you must pay in Cayman Dollars) - nothing really in Hell but a gift shop, but must be beaches along the way. Have fun!
bookbabe Posted July 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 9, 2011 You're not likely to find a cheap beach bar anywhere that's easy for cruise ship visitors to get to... :D The prices are going to be closer to what you'd pay for food/drinks at a higher end theme park or hotel or something like that at home. (i.e. $6-7 beer, $10 blender drinks, etc.) Enjoy the nice beach...anywhere along Seven Mile Beach is going to work for you, but try the Royal Palms, Sea Grape or Tiki Beach sections...and save the partying for the islands where that's a bigger part of their atmosphere. lovevacadays Posted July 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2011 I agree. GC is not the place for cheap bars - at least in the areas pretty easily accessible by cruise ship passengers. We went to Breezes and had their hurricanes. Not cheap but very powerful. Perhaps you can ask one of the taxi drivers if there are any cheap bars but my guess is that they would be in an area that would cost you quite a bit to get to by taxi so you might as well stay in the main part of town and go to one of those establishments.
