Day 4 - Cozumel, Mexico - October 19, 2010

We actually woke up early enough to step out and watch us dock at Cozumel. We took pictures of the lighthouse and shore. It was kinda of hazy for the first hour but it become so very beautiful by the time we were ready to exit the ship.

We exited the ship too early to get the "Carnival" picture provided so we took our own.

These were the people that were headed to the ship for "official" Carnival pictures as we were walking the pier. Very cool.

Cozumel - Day 4 - Continued (Pier/Shopping Area)

What can I say? Look at this water!!!!! It was so crazy beautiful!

IMG_2015.jpg

This was the shopping that was directly off the pier. The little huts gave nice shade from the sun.

IMG_2019.jpg

As we looked back towards the ship we couldn't help but take a pic of the Carnival Ecstasy in all her glory!

IMG_2021.jpg

In light of the new smoking laws on Carnival we couldn't help but include this picture I took in one of the shops. lol

IMG_2024.jpg

This small wishing pool was nice to sit near. As we waited for our excursion guide we also took a picture of the flags that were on "the square".

Day 4 - Cozumel - Playa Mia Beach Break Deluxe

We did the Playa Mia beach break deluxe through Carnival. We boarded a bus and were taken to Playa Mia Resort. This was the set up under the big pavilion for eating the international buffet.

IMG_2044.jpg

The next 3 pictures are pretty self explanatory, the beautiful views of the beach and the beach chairs set up for us to relax and take it all in.

After a while there and going through the little shops they had there we decided to leave a little early so we took a taxi back to the cruise terminal. Heres a view from the back of the taxi.

When we got back we just took some pics of the ship from the shopping area.

The next time you go on a cruise, if you will ask you room steward to please leave the towel animals, they will. As far as I know they will. I ask mine on my Feb cruise and he had no problem leaving them. I know a lot of people that do that, so they can get a group picture at the end.

If you take a cruise that goes to Progresso again, walk down to Buddy's. They have tables on the beach and will serve you there also.

Great review. We really hate to see the Ecstasy leave, but, looking forward to the new ships coming in the fall. Of course, the Conquest is going to NO.

Great review so far. Seeing the pics of Playa Mia is making me glad I booked this as my excursion for Cozumel when I cruise on Conquest in October. :)

We had a great time doing this excursion even though we did leave a bit early as I mentioned. I am sure you will have a great time.

We will have to ask in Dec if they will leave our towel animals. This was our first cruise so we did not know how everything worked and im sure since this will be just our second one in Dec that we will probably overlook something on this one too......we will become seasoned cruisers soon!! LOL

More great review & beautiful pictures. We were on the Conquest for our 1st cruise while you were on the Ecstasy. :) I miss Cozumel, it is beautiful! I have my next cruise on the Ecstasy, the last sailing before She leaves Galveston. I'm excited to get to go before She's gone.

Good to know about the towel animals. I had hoped to get a group picture of them on our cruise too, but ours didn't leave them each day. I'll have to remember to ask. :)

Feb. was the first time that I remembered to ask him if he would do it. I also tipped him an extra $20 that day. Keep reading CC and you will pick up a lot of good ideas, what to do and not do. I have found it very helpful. I started crusing with "The Crazies" after my husband passed away because of I read one of Host Mach's reviews.

Progresso has a law that forbids anyone from entering the city on foot so you must take a bus or some other transportation on the over 1 mile long pier into Progresso. Thankfully our excursion included a bus in as well as a great tour guide who gave us a little insight into the city.

You don't have to be doing an excursion to get the bus ride into town. They also have plenty of busses to take the others that are not doing excursions. I will never forget when Joe and I went on our last cruise and Progresso was a POC. I read a lot of things about it and started to wonder what I had gotten us into. We loved it. We took the double decker bus around town and then went down to the beach area. It is such a laid back town. There are some that go into Merdia(sp) which is about 30 minutes away and is supposed to be really nice. I think the next time I go to Progresso, that is what I am going to do.

Yea, I'm sad to see both the Ecstasy & Conquest leave Galveston, but, looking forward to the new ships that will be taking their places. I am taking the last cruise on the Conquest before she goes to NO, but, really can't afford the last one on the Ecstasy, nor the extra time off. I haven't ever been on the Conquest, so looking forward to it. I do have a friend that will be on the last cruise of the Ecstasy. Really looking forward to the Blogger's cruise in March.

Great review. I'm going to look into the beach that you went to in Coz. I have been there several times and am thinking about doing a beach this time.

What did u think of ur room? We are in U18 for our dec cruise. I'm a lil worried that I will get sick being so close to the front, could u feel a lot of movement?

It was finally time to go to our room. Our room was on the Upper Deck (U16) port side with port holes.

IMG_1795.jpg

We also had a very nice surprise waiting for us when we got to the room. The gift was from our TA, Beverly, with a little note to enjoy our cruise!

IMG_1793.jpg

We knew there was no way we could eat it on our own so we made a date with our new friends, Rebecca, Michael, and Victoria for cake after muster! It was awesome and my sweet tooth was very happy! :D

While we were in our room our luggage arrived and D begin taking self protraits with a few props from the room!

Bill board worthy? I think so!!

Then it was time for muster and a meet on the deck to wave goodbye to the USA and hello to Mexico!

I am enjoying your review and your photos! I have yet to sail on one of the "small" ships but I am considering giving it a go for one of my next cruises so I really appreciate the photos of the ship!

I have sailed the Triumph 2x and LOVE her! The Triumph was my first cruise ever so certainly holds a special place in my heart but I think you will love it!

Our room was great and we did not feel any movement sans one night but that was the night that our capitan was skirting away from a tropical storm and even then it was not bad enough to make us sick. I think you will enjoy the room!

I don't know how to compare the two ships as we have only been on the "small" ship...(at the time it seemed huge so I can just imagine getting on the bigger triumph what my feelings will be...LOL)

I am hoping that we too fall in love with Triumph.....then again, we will be on a cruise so I'm thinking that there won't be much to not fall in love with....LOL

Day 5 - Fun Day At Sea - October 20, 2010

We really should have jotted down some notes as to what we did each day so that our review could have been better....or we could have written it a lot sooner. LOL Here is some photos we took I believe on our last day.

IMG_2174.jpg

Yes it took us til the last day to realize the library was here and that you could check out books and games. I guess we just had too much other stuff to do, but we popped in here and my wife had to show where we were.....*well maybe not exactly but in her guestimation (is that a word? lol).....*

IMG_2159.jpg

Our waiter performing on the last night in the MDR....do not remember his name...I know terrible....

IMG_2146.jpg

Our TA was great...not only did she send a cake for our Bon Voyage, she made sure and mention that I was celebrating a birthday * it was a couple days post cruise but whose asking* LOL. They brought this out on the last night in the MDR.

IMG_2137.jpg

Not to be outdone, my wife just had to have a desert of her own that night that was in her words magnificent....She opted for the Carrot cake in the specialty coffee shop. She is counting down the days til our next cruise in Dec just for another piece of carrot cake!
