katz Posted July 24, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2011 Does anyone know which ones Oceania uses?
aZ4me Posted July 24, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2011 According to cruises coming up, it looks like Oceania uses Hotel Condes de Barcelona, Hotel Arts, and Hotel Hesperia.
katz Posted July 24, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2011 Thanks!!! The website says it is too early to post the hotels for our cruise, but I want to look them up on Trip Advisor. Thanks again.
Mura Posted July 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2011 Generally the hotels they use are just fine. But you'll pay a big premium for using them as opposed to booking the same hotel on your own. Mura
wripro Posted July 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2011 If you're talking about the "free" pre cruise hotel do yourself a favor, take their $500 credit and book the same hotel for half the price.
GJH123 Posted July 24, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2011 Our invoice indicates that we are staying at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos in Barcelona. It appears that transportation to the port at Tarragona (not Barcelona) is included. Wondering why the change in port from Barcelona--possible marketing ploy to encourage use of their pre-cruise hotel as it is apparently over an hour from Barcelona. Do a search on this board for Tarragona and you will learn quite a bit about this topic.

JPR Posted July 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 25, 2011 We recently enjoyed a nice-size modern room with large marble bath for under about $260 from TripAdvisor (Expedia) at the Hotel 1898, very well located right on Las Ramblas. Beautiful and large indoor pool, excellent restaurant. One important tip: Watch all the time for pickpockets on Las Ramblas. Keep your wallet in your front pocket or jacket. One tried to nail me between the taxi and the front door of the hotel! And it was a well-dressed older gentleman (the most prevalent kind of pickpocket in Western Europe). katz Posted July 25, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted July 25, 2011 Thanks for all the hotel recommendations. Our expererince with pickpockets in Barcelona was with teenage boys on bikes. I think they were scoping us out, but chose a small Japanese woman who was standing in front of our hotel entrance. The poor woman was knocked down before we scared off the pickpocket. At least, he didn't get her purse.
