Helicopter Glacier Landing

Has anyone done the helicopter glacier landing in Skagway in the last few weeks? If so how was it and was there alot of snow and ice where you landed and walked around.

Yes, did it a little over a week ago with Temsco helicopters. For our excursion (dogsledding) they flew us up to Douglas glacier, where there is plenty of snow. They do provide shoe covers to put over your shoes. When we went, the conditions were white out with rain although there was none of that when we started the trip. I would say be prepared for cool weather. We had our hats & gloves on along with rain coat and a couple of lightweight layers underneath. No ice to speak of.

No ice? What am I missing, you landed on a glacier right?

The ice was further down the glacier. We landed on solid snow.

did it last week..............the staff were in short sleeves !!! we were fine with thinner fleece tops, no gloves or hats. If the sun was not out it would have been jacket and gloves. Have a blast !!!

Glacier landing and dog sled tours land in DIFFERENT areas. The glacier dog sled tours get little if any ice. It is mostly all snow.
