Hstergo Posted July 31, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2011 If the hotel doen't offer free shuttle service first ask them if you can work out a deal if the van driver would take you in groups of 10. If all else fails just take cabs it's a 3 minute cab ride.
Langley Cruisers Posted July 31, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Do you mean Holiday Inn Port of Miami? No downtown hotels offer a free shuttle service to the POM. If any did, that's all they would be doing all weekend is shuttling. Nope. Agree that several cabs would be the best option and least expensive. Shuttle bus service will charge per person - this will quickly add up for 20 people. You can probably get 4 people plus luggage into one cab - you'll need 5 or 6 and that's no big deal. Cabs are plentiful to take you there; they usually line up out front, ready to take passengers to the pier. Each cab will cost you no more than say, $10 or $12. My advice is to meet up on the sidewalk, or just inside the building after you give your luggage to the porters. You will all be split up anyway as they check in passengers by Deck number (or if any of you get Priority Check-in). Have a good cruise.
Marie51 Posted July 31, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Agree, the Holiday Inn port of Miami does not have a shuttle but a cab will be the least expensive way to get to the ship. You can fit 3-4 people in a regular cab (plus your luggage) and more will fit if you get a van taxi. You'll have to go separately but can meet up where the cab lets you off and the porters take your luggage. Cab is about $10.
eandj Posted July 31, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Let the concierge or bellman at the hotel know what time you'd like a group of 3 cabs ready for the port. There will be many cabs there already if on a weekend, transporting cruisers back and forth to the ships. But you might want to avoid the biggest crowd by either leaving the hotel at 10 and waiting at the port until you are allowed to check in or...wait until noon when the rush passes and have a leisurely morning at the hotel until then. You'll all be together at the pier as you'll need to hand over your luggage outside the terminal. $12 or so will be the cost for 4 people in a cab. Cheaper than any shuttles. Happy cruising. FLAHAM Posted August 1, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2011 For 20 people you will need 5-6 cabs, depending upon luggage.

Eng23 Posted August 2, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 2, 2011 Cabs are about the only option unless you know of a private van or car service that you can hire but would be more expensive than using multiple cabs.

If it is the hotel at the port of Miami it is practically across the street from the pier. Or do you mean you are staying for your holiday at a hotel in Biscayne Bay?
