Halifax on Labor Day

Recommended Posts

Labour day is a holiday but places such as the Maritime Museum will be open: http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mmanew/en/home/visitus/hoursadmission/holidayhours.aspx

Citadel Hill seems to be open too: http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/halifax/visit/visit4.aspx

The waterfront will be full of people and restaurants and touristy shops will be open. I imagine all the shops at the cruise terminal will be open too and there are some excellent ones there.

I think if you do a bit of digging (google) you may be able to find a rental car. someone on Tripadvisor reported having a difficult time finding a car this week but they were able to rent one in the end. There will be lots of taxis waiting at the pier, and if a group of you get together it would not be too expensive to get to Peggy's Cove.

As for non- tourist type stores, they will likely be closed, but that is probably no great loss.
