mis2princesas Posted August 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2011 .... to have alcoholic drinks on MSC?.. My brother says he read somewhere that you could have beer and wine if you're 18 y.o... I didn't know what to tell him. We are on our late 30's.. and he was asking for his stepson who will be 19 at time of sailing.. Any idea?
AmoMondo Posted August 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2011 Not sure what the rules are if you are on a US sailing but if you are talking about a cruise from anywhere else, you are legally allowed to drink any type of alcohol at 18.
Mummye Posted August 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2011 I just read in our embarkation info that it is 18 in Europe , but 21 in some parts of the USA. I assume depending on State Laws. Tough if you end up in the wrong places!
Norwegian Cruiser 73 Posted August 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2011 On all European sailings the legal age is from 18. On US sailings originating from US ports the age is 21.
janneke Posted August 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2011 I was on a HAL cruise in the Baltic in july. During the captain's cocktail and on many other occasions my 22 y old daughter was repeatedly asked if she was over 21 y when we ordered a drink. Sometimes she was even refused an alcohol drink. We had to insist that she be served a drink. So what is the definition of "European" or "US" sailing? In my opinion a ship sailing in European waters is the same as on European soil! Why do HAL personnel take the attitude of being in American? I find this insulting! I will in the future respond with the question : "does your mother know you are here?" if the question is asked by a young indonesian waiter with facial hair that is not yet ripe enough to be shaven. Capricruiser Posted August 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2011 I don't know about HAL or where their corporate headquarters are, but MSC is based in Italy and its rules aboard are based on Italian and EU law. Drinking age on MSC is 18 just like it is all over Europe. Only on US sailings does this change.
