Guest LoveMyBoxer Posted August 7, 2011 #26 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I agree...dont know why the thread was removed but I was thinking how stupid is it to post how you smuggle in alcohol knowing that the "beards" read these boards... I always find it funny how people on a public forum post the ways they smuggle. I believe the post was pulled because one of the Hosts here at CC showed a picture of the rum runners he used, and it was probably considered as an encouragement to smuggle alcohol onboard. dustyroad Posted August 7, 2011 #27 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Whats next Bubble Butt Bottles? The warning label states not to sit when strapped on. that would be alot of '' junk in the trunk '' . :D
martinchem Posted August 7, 2011 #28 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Maybe a couple ziplock baggies in my wifeys bra or fill an artificial leg would still get the liqour on. They seem to want this looked at qiuckly yet are taking forever to address the past guest perks.
angelbear57 Posted August 7, 2011 #29 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I read that page too. Seems like some cruise critic haters are spending a lot of time bashing Host Mach on that thread, blaming him for advocating smuggling. Childish if you ask me! Darchie Posted August 7, 2011 #30 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Same here. I ended up dumping some of the booze, and offered what was still in original containers to my cabin steward. He thanked me graciously & took it, but then I was horrified when DS reminded me " Mom, I can't believe you did that. His name was Mohammed." Boy was my face red. I hope he was not offended. Public gaffe and faux paus number 357. :o LOLOLOL! Now THAT'S funny!!! We have always taken full unopened bottles on board with no problems. But others are right about also buying drinks on board. We have hefty S&S bills at the end. Aside from the obvious money maker, I think the policy is more for the twenty-somethings that get wasted and annoy the other guests. (and because the room stewards don't want to clean up after a sick drunk) Eeeewwww! Besides, Carnival is one of the only lines that allows you to bring wine on. That's a perk. Princess also allows wine. The number of bottles allowed is in dispute often, but we managed to bring on 4 bottles plus a box of wine. We still purchased wine in the dining room, but it was nice to be able to enjoy a glass of wine on our balcony before dinner. I believe Disney has a liberal alcohol policy. RCI is probably the strictest. Personally it's too much of a hassle to try to use rum runners. I'd rather have someone else make my drinks. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted August 7, 2011 #32 Share Posted August 7, 2011 ...Can a lowest bidder security screener find them all? No. It is no different than the TSA and the illusion they try to project. BINGO The fear of getting caught is enough of a deterrent for most people. That's what they count on (additionally). CWcruisers Posted August 7, 2011 #33 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Good Luck finding my RR's in 3,000 to 5,000 pieces of luggage......Dennis They found mine in San Diego on the Spirit in March, so it does happen. Mine was wrapped up in my black bathing suit in the middle of the suitcase and there was nothing else to attrack attention. The rest of the contents were clothing and toiletries. DebJ14 Posted August 7, 2011 #34 Share Posted August 7, 2011 Someone claimed, on a thread that was deleted, that folks were strapping them to their legs! Hehehehehe... As was mentioned, they have folks reading these threads all the time. They're quite aware of rumrunners and how they're used... :) And this could potentially cause problems for the people who unfortunately have a catheter and use the leg bags when they travel. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted August 7, 2011 #35 Share Posted August 7, 2011 And this could potentially cause problems for the people who unfortunately have a catheter and use the leg bags when they travel. As long as they provide something to empty the bag into;) Carnival won't start patting down everyone with loose fitting clothing or big shorts pockets. The "beards" know that they can't get that personal, and not run people off. They realize that accepting a small amount of smuggling is the price which must be paid for not being too intrusive! (The TSA couldn't care less about being too intrusive... obviously... but that's another matter entirely!) Tom

Tom Yes, JH post was done to make people think twice about doing it. Also from the replies, many of his readers that arent on CC had never even heard of RR, so he had to write that they will be more vigilant in searches. Many that are caught or hear that others have been caught, will be reluctant to try it.

LOL :D I would say that it's the punishment that acts as a deterrent (in theory anyway) more so than the law itself! Many people respect laws, I would think even more FEAR punishment! Tom

kujobie Posted August 7, 2011 #49 Share Posted August 7, 2011 I always laugh when people think they have some clever, novel way to smuggle and are afraid to share it here. Unless your rum is being airlifted via helicopter or hidden in a body orifice, it's been thought of and done and Carnival knows about it. Success these days is more luck than anything else. Sad that they are making a big deal of it. That Disney cruise is looking more appealing. While the cost is at a premium, there's something to be said about being able to stroll on with several cases of beer and a couple bottles of Jack Daniels in your hand and being told to have a nice cruise.
