luvthebalcony Posted August 12, 2011 #30 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Our choise for cabin crawl is to make vodka jello shots. They always taste better when successfully smuggled alcohol is used. We have already been practicing for our january MAGIC cruise. We always incorporate a poker game into it also. Last cruise in March the pot was around 130 dollars and Nancy did not share any of it ! Perfect Stranger Posted August 12, 2011 #31 Share Posted August 12, 2011 That's a lot of booze in a short period of time, you lushes! :D
SwedishCruiser Posted November 18, 2011 #32 Share Posted November 18, 2011 We restrict ours to a max of 40 participants. If we have more we break it up into groups starting 30 minutes apart. It's pretty easy to pick up hosts as everyone has a great time. We try to have about 7 hosts per group of 40... :) I am thinking of organzing a cabin crawl for our January office cruise. Any ideas what to serve for drinks?
GCurry Posted November 18, 2011 #33 Share Posted November 18, 2011 hahahahaha young grasshopper....there are ways.......:pNo really...either Bon Voyage or....... Have you ever had some evil person slip Rum Runner flasks into your luggage? Or picking up that Appleton's Rum Cream in Mobay and forgetting to turn it in. Or that Alaskan cruise where you and Uncle Johnny Walker came in from the Skagway together?? And not being a jello shot person, I'm a little unclear on that concept and would enjoy an explaination. But don't let this turn into another "smuggling thread", as I've had enough pontifications thank you very much!!:) We'll have a cabin crawl on the Magic Jan. 15th cruise; we're showing an aftwrap which should be different. nwcruiselover Posted November 18, 2011 #35 Share Posted November 18, 2011 The cabin crawls I have been on didn't involve alcohol. The cabin hosts brought some type of treat from home, sometimes something that is made in their home state. Just a piece of candy, a book mark, etc. The crawl participants are in and out of your cabin in 5 minutes and the whole thing takes about an hour. It's a lot of fun and a good way to see different types of cabins and meet people from your roll call. Nancy
CapsR1 Posted November 19, 2011 #36 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Collect $5 from each person NOT Hosting. HOST ROOM: 1. Sign the face of each card - in the deck you will be given. 2. Need to provide the shot/alcohol, beer, soda, etc for that round served in your cabin. 3. Give a drink to each person that visits your room. 4. When drank- let person select ONE random card from the deck and sign their name on it right then. 5. After getting your card - proceed to the next room. Save your glass (if any)/hold onto your cards. 6. Repeat until you have your five cards. At the last room - person with the best hand wins $$$ in pot! Worst hand gets their $5 back... (Good way to see each others Cabins or Rooms) PLAYERS: 1. Go from each Cabin/Room to the next, getting your beer/shot/ at each one. Must finish drink before collecting one playing card and signing it. 2. Proceed to the next room, Repeat. 3. At last room when everyone has 5 cards (must be all signed) Person with best 5 card Poker hand WINS $$ Pot!!! - NO SHARING CARDS 4. If you're still able to walk - time to PARTY! You can also go from bar to bar if you dont want to do the cabins... (Alternate may have to host if needed) Can do 5 cabins or 8 cabins and pick your best 5 cards for your poker hand... (please have soda/juice available for those that don’t wish to drink) Cards, pens and shot glasses will be provided to Host rooms. - please save glasses to be used in next rooms shot. ***Wait until everyone has their drink in each room and Host room has to do a toast before drinking! I make a sheet with the cabin numbers for each shot in the order they are to be visited. Some people can get creative and make people all wear the same color when going the crawl or do t-shirts that say "if lost please return to cabin #______." We have so much fun going up and down the halls (when cabins are spread all over) that we get a lot of folks that want to join in on our fun. We play this on all our cruises and sometimes in the hotel before the cruise as well...ENJOY I want to be on your cabin crawl . . . sounds like so much fun!!! Sun 4-ever Posted November 19, 2011 #37 Share Posted November 19, 2011 I didn't know what it was either, I've seen it mentioned on the boards but none of my CC groups have ever done one. I did see a post on this forum that described it and I thought How Fun:p I then put a posting on the board for my cruise in Jan. but nobody has shown any interest:(
BettyPC Posted November 19, 2011 #38 Share Posted November 19, 2011 technical question on the jello shots - you make them in the room? Bring a packet of jello w/you & those teeny cups? Put them in the refrigerator to set.
Rottie55 Posted November 19, 2011 #39 Share Posted November 19, 2011 This sounds like a TON of fun!.... Definitely gonna have to try and set one up for our next cruise in May!!!!!..... Shouldn't be hard to find participants!:D
Rare Banditswife Posted November 19, 2011 #40 Share Posted November 19, 2011 I am trying to organize a cabin crawl for our upcoming cruise-12/4/11. I thought having the host provide alcohol sounded unfair to host-too costly + some of our roll call don't drink. So we r going to just do the poker part in combination with seeing different types of cabins. I think it will still be fun w/o alcohol- I have named ours "BYOW (whatever) Cabin Crawl w/optional poker" Some people have expressed interest in seeing the cabins, but not playing poker. For the poker part-I am going to bring 4 decks of cards, then write their screen name on back as they draw their card, so no one could swap cards to get a better poker hand. We are also starting/ending in a public place on the ship. If crawlers want to drink, they can bring their own.

jdvmd Posted November 19, 2011 #42 Share Posted November 19, 2011 I've done three cabin crawls on the Oasis, Epic and Summit respectively. We have always just gone in and gone out of each cabin in five minutes. Have two door stops so the first person can prop the door open with one of the stopper. The last person removes the door stopper, so on and so on. Plan the route logically so you don't go back and forth from one end of the ship to the other or up and down floors. Print up the route and distribute at your meet and greet etc. You always want to get a variet of cabins -- you don't need four balconies or three insides. Try to get a big suite lined up also and have that be your last stop as it has more room. Be prepared for those that say they are going to host and then they don't. Have had this happen on the Summit and the Epic. We all stood there in the hallway while someone knocked and knocked on the door. I have even had people who were not part of Cruise Critic or our roll call join in on the crawl. They saw the big group of people and decided to see what was going on. The last cabin crawl on the Summit in April was a bit different from the others. Each cabin host provided a drink/food item from their home state. I did "Big Blue Margaritas" in honor of my University of Kentucky Wildcats. Some provided souveniers including engraved pencils with "Summit Cabin Crawl, April 2011." We used the pencils to write down our answers for the "Name the Island Where this Sand Came From" contest. It was a very port intensive beachy cruise with only one sea day and that was the last day of the cruise. It was a lot of fun. We also played poker getting one card as you exited the cabin. Great way to see a lot of cabins in a short amount of time.
