Celebrity for 20 somethings

Hi,

Looking to plan a cruise for next spring not sure who will decide to join me either my parents or my girls. Celebrity has some great itineraries coming up for southern Caribbean aboard the summit. However, I am 25 and am worried as this cruise line has always been geared toward a more adult crowd. Is there a lot going on around the ship at night. I have cruised and on carnival and RC and loved both as there is always something going on either fun game shows or parties up on deck.

I'd recommend sticking with RCI or Carnival for a bit longer; Celebrity does cater to an older crowd and does not have a lot of nightlife. The newer Celebrity ships (S-Class ships) have a bit more geared towards a younger demographic, but Summit is one of their older ships and not the best choice for a 20 something seeking lots of activities and action.

My daughter is 19, and would tend to agree. We love Celebrity and we usually bring her along, so who's going to pass up on a free cruise, or at least one you're not paying for right?

She was 18 when we went on Royal and it was a ton of fun for her, she went to the night club every night and there were a ton of young adults however it still had that older feel like mid to late twenties and early thirties crowd. It was still great. Haven't cruised Carnival in a good 10 years so I can't comment on what type of atmosphere they have, as it's been way to long to remember much.

I would wait a few years and then try Celebrity, but if you went with your girls you're bound to have fun regardless of what line you're on. And if they have a great itinerary that'll be hard to pass up.

Had my first Celebrity Cruise with 22 almost a decade ago and I fell love:)

I´ve been on Carnival once in the meantime-sure more party people there. But I never felt too young or lonely with my age on Celebrity. Especially if you´re friends are joining you.

It depends more on what you are looking for in a cruise than on your age. My husband and I have been cruising Celebrity since we were in our early twenties and we love it, but our idea of a vacation is good food, good service, relaxing, dressing up, and gambling. Celebrity pretty much fit us to a T. If you are after nightlife though, you might be disappointed. We tend to spend our evenings in the casino so we consider that our nightlife- we don't do shows or parties.

Going on Summit in November with my GF (both 25). We were looking for a more relaxed and romantic vacation but with a good itinerary, so onboard entertainment wasn't a huge priority in our decision (Summit = 1 day at sea; RCI Oasis Ships = 3/4 days at sea).

We compared to RCI and NCL, but Summit was easily the best value for price (balcony room) and itinerary.

Always look for value and consider the time of year because that will drive the demographic of your particular sailing date. If your going with friends and no spouses/significant others, than I would probably say RCI is the best fit if the price point works for you.

There is a whole thread somewhere discussing whether or not Celebrity is starting to cater and target a younger demographic with its new S-Class ships so that is something to consider too.

Let us know what you decide. Good luck.

I am 25 and love Celebrity. This spring my best friend (also 25) and I were on Solstice and we loved it so much we have another cruise booked for February together. We were definitely some of the youngest cruisers on the ship, but we did not mind that at all. We met some really interesting people through Cruise Critic as well as Friends of Dorothy meetings, so we had a couple of groups to grab drinks with before dinner and no one treated us any differently just because we were younger.

I would agree that there is not as much in terms of nightlife on Celebrity compared to Carnival or Royal Caribbean. However, we love active port-intensive vacations, so that did not bother us. Usually we would start our day early with an athletically vigorous excursion on shore, so by the time we had a long dinner and drinks we were usually exhausted. In fact, we were usually fast asleep while the Martini Bar was still hopping with cruisers decades older than us!

In summary I would agree with most of the other posters here have said - it really depends on your personality. If your ideal vacation with the girls is to sleep in late, meet other people your age by the pool, and party into the night, then Celebrity probably isn't for you. However, you certainly won't feel like you are in a nursing home either. Make your own fun, enjoy the superior food and drinks, make friends with fascinating people of any age, and you'll have a wonderful time!

Unfortunately the others are correct X is not the cruiseship for nightlife. Better off with RCI in that case. It is a shame though, if you were in a sheik hotel in Vegas then closed your eyes and were magically transported to a Solstice class ship and opened your eyes i doubt you would see a difference, well execept for maybe all the old folks.

I was on the Solstice , May 2010, with my 3 children, all single and in their 20's. they enjoyed the cruise overall. They enjoyed the ports and the dining, but found the nightlife a bit lacking. The disco was usually empty, The entertainment was geared for an older demographic, and the music trivia activites were for the 50,s 60,s and 70's, all years from before they were born. They were hoping to meet people on the cruise, but there were few singles in their age group. So overall, they enjoyed the RC cruises more,

So if an active nightlife is a priority for you , Celebrity might not be the best choice.
