Wilde_37 Posted August 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Going to sail Aqua Class for the first time. I know we can eat in Blu. However, are we restricted to Blu or are we also assigned a table in the main dining room? We normally get a table for two - unless traveling with friends. My concern with Blu is that it appears that the tables are very close to each other and we like relative privacy while talking.
Orator Posted August 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2011 You are assigned a table in Blu only. You can dine in the MDR if space is available. There are a few "private" tables in Blu.
CaptData Posted August 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2011 You are allowed the MTD option as well as Blu. Just book a time you want and a table. Check it out the first day to see where you would like to be and ask for that table alll the time. Tables are close here to but if you go very early or late then there will be less people and more private.

Blu replaces the MDR, you may eat in the MDR if space is available but you will not be assigned a table there..If you go to the MDR and ask for a table to be assigned they will ask for your stateroom and realize you are in AQ. sptrout Posted August 19, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2011 My concern with Blu is that it appears that the tables are very close to each other and we like relative privacy while talking. Privacy was never an issue for us when dining in Blu. Although we usually arrived at 6PM so we avoided the later busier hours, plus we always got a window table. Even when we had folks sitting close by, it was easy to avoid, or start, conversations. We usually started at least a (hello, how are you? introduction). Sometimes we continued ours talks, sometimes not. Also, there are few tables in Blu where you will not have any neighbors at all.
retiredtogolf Posted August 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2011 We were on the Equinox in AQ in April. We ate one night in the mdr and felt in was more crowded and the service was not as good as in Blu. So for the rest of the cruise we ate in Blu. Agree with other posters if you want conversation in Blu it is easy, but if not it is easy also.
PS90 Posted August 19, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2011 I think that, if the goal is privacy for two people at a dining table, Blu is much more likely for this to occur than the MDR. If anything, the MDR's 2-top tables are even closer together than Blu's.
miXterOB Posted August 19, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Our experiences are identical to those already posted. The first few evenings we arrived early and were able to enjoy the tables by the windows. Nearby tables had very nice, friendly folks we enjoyed but DW and I realized after a few nights that there were some very nice private tables toward the back of the room which we decided to try...we loved it as it was very private and romantic. We could wave and say Hi to the nice folks by the windows as we arrived or left but we loved the tables less traveled. We can't imagine going to the MDR after doing Blu
bdpnatl Posted August 19, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2011 Our experience on the Solstice Class ships has been similar. The two tops are right next to each other. We luckily had a very nice couple at the table next to us and we talked to them each evening. It might as well have been a table for 4. Our table was in the lower part of the dinning room and it looked like all of them on that level were in a similar arrangement. We have not eaten in Blu so cannot comment on that.
