bonafidebeachbum Posted August 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2011 We're looking at maybe switching from a 9/3 7 day SB on the Maasdam out of Montreal to a 10/8 7 day NB . What differences can I expect in weather ... better foilage??? Or way too cold????
6rugrats Posted August 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2011 I can't predict the weather, but you will have better foliage in Oct.
sail7seas Posted August 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2011 It isn't likely you'll see foliage change on a September 3 seven day cruise.
Jeff in Torrance Posted August 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Cooler and probably wetter.
maryann ns Posted August 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2011 October may be cooler, but you will be out of hurricane season and the leaves will be better.
Backstage Traveler Posted August 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2011 It can be cold or warm here in Montreal in October. It just depends on Mother Nature. We have had snow for Halloween, and other years gone out without any jacket. You will just have to check closer to your date of departure to prepare for the trip. As far as foliage goes, though, October will definitely be better. Sept 3 is too early for the fall foliage.
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted September 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2011 I hope no snow.
SailBadtheSinner Posted September 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2011 Hurricane season in the Atlantic is from June 1 to Nov 30 so the cruise would still be in season. IMHO, your chance of seeing better foliage is doing the October cruise. For example, the best time to see foliage in Bar Harbor, ME & Acadia National Park is Columbus Day, observed. As for weather, I would not call the weather in October to be cold. Just dress in layers and you'll be prepared for whatever Mother Nature provides.
