Buck Island underwater trail or Trunk Bay's St. John's VI

Have previously gone to Trunk Bay but never been to Buck Island. Will be cruising to St. Croix and St. Thomas in Jan. with others who have never been to either. Chances are, they will just want to do one of these, as it does get pricey, and on the other island, will just do a local beach. If anyone has been to both of these places, how do you compare one to the other? Which would you do?

I've done both, since I lived in the VI's for a time.

 

Trunk Bay is great & I love St John. However , you may want to look at your other options for St. Croix. There may be nothing else on your St. Croix stop that you want to do, & Buck Island is certainly worth the time. St. Thomas / St. John probably has more excursion options.

 

My favorite place of all to snorkel is the baths on Virgin Gorda.
