SusieV Posted August 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2011 I've been reading through the cabin compilation thread and was hoping for some advice. I currently have #1554 booked, which I am aware has an obstruction from the window washing equipment but also has a double sized veranda which I thought was more important. I've been checking every day and tonight I saw #1604 opened up. Since my TA is closed I put it on hold and now I have a decision to make. My husband and I are not morning people; we stay out late enjoying ourselves and tend to close down the casino. If we are awoken every morning at 6:30 like some people have said, that might make it worthwhile to keep what we have and just deal with the obstruction. Especially if the noise keeps up and doesn't stop after that (I was unable to figure out if this was the case or if it was a one time thing). Are the hump rooms very noisy on Silhouette as well? Any advice from people who have sailed in these cabins? My hold expires tomorrow so I need to make up my mind quickly.
CathyCruises Posted August 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2011 We were in 1552 on Eclipse and it was very quiet at all times. Of course the ww equipment was right next door, so I am very familiar with it. However, it hangs out away from the balcony, and it is basically an open white box--you can see right through it. We honestly barely noticed it was there after acknowledging it when we first boarded. That is a very nice cabin with large balcony and bed by bath, at least on Eclipse--you should probably keep it! kitkat9438 Posted August 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2011 We had 1606 on the Eclipse and had no issues with noise whatsoever. We loved that cabin and the balcony. You couldn't even hear the band at the pool playing on the deck above us. Great location close to the elevators and stairs. 1604 balcony is not quite as large as 1606 but it's still larger. luvtocook Posted August 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2011 We have sailed S class in 1610 twice now and have it booked for a third time. We have not noticed any noise at all. As Kitkat says, very convenient location!
2morecruises Posted August 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2011 Having stayed in 1608 & 1606 & now having booked 1605 & 1610 (all "Humpers") I'm guessing you can imagine what our answer would be. :D Book 'em & enjoy the convenience of mid-ship location & larger balconies. 2MC
Adammara Posted August 22, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2011 We have stayed 4 times in 1604 on Eclipse, and you can sometimes hear sunbeds being dragged around about 7am, you also occasionally here ladies in stilleto's going across the deck in the evening. With regard to balcony size, the forward partion is normal balcony size, and the rear one against 1606 is about 4' longer. There are also some air conditioning ducts above these balconys who do make a slight humming noise. None of the above have worried us, and we have 3 more cruises booked in that cabin! SusieV Posted August 22, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted August 22, 2011 I don't care about the evening noise since we go to bed very late, but the morning noise could be bad. I guess it's not worth the risk for a slightly bigger balcony so I'll deal with the obstruction and just keep 1554. Thanks for a the advice. As Kitkat says, very convenient location! I'm so glad to read this. I have 1610 on the west bound TA and a B2B south Carib. I was hoping I hadn't made a mistake by planning to spend 23 days in that cabin.
phoenix_dream Posted August 23, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2011 I don't recall cabin numbers, but we have had hump cabins on S class and I do not recall any issues with noise at all.

I am a relatively light sleeper and I heard nothing!
