jj69rr Posted August 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. I contacted http://www.rome-transfer.it/ and http://www.romelimostours.com/ to try to arrange transfers from FCO to Civitavecchia, and neither of them bothered to respond to my inquiry. I then contacted http://www.romecabs.com/ and they got back to me within a few hours.
CathyCruises Posted August 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2011 There are so many recommendations for several tour operators here that it really pays to use one of them. Lots of options but for a flawless vacation it is worth a small amount more for things to go well.
Putterdude Posted June 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I know this thread is two years old but we just have had the experience of booking with RomeLimosTours. We very specific that there would be 8 adults each with 1 large suitcase and one carry-on plus one folded wheelchair. We were quoted e160 for this transfer which we accepted. This weekend they emailed us saying that they could not accommodate us in one van so we would need 2 vans or a mini-bus and the rate would be e280 and e320 respectively. Sound like a "bait & switch"....be guarded when booking with these people.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Thanks for the information. There are many good ones for this type of transfer. We do like romecabs.com Keith
agabbymama Posted June 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Another vote for RomeCabs, be sure it has the s on the end, there are other copy cat companies. We are two older ladies with mobility issues, so we joined with two other couples from our Roll Call for the transfer from Rome Hotel to Civitavecchia. We were at 3 different hotels but all close to the Vatican. We were scheduled for an 11:30 pick-up, and the driver actually called the hotel the morning of the transfer to re-confirm. Then he actually showed up at 11:15 in the pouring rain, he loaded us into the van first, then took care of the luggage. Only spoke a little English, but enough to communicate with us. The cost was 180 EUR, so broken down between the 6 of us ended up at 30 EUR pp. Brand new Mercedes van with plenty of room for us and all of our luggage. Have a great trip! dmk Posted June 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2013 We've used Rome Cabs twice. They are our operators of choice.
FTLcruisers Posted June 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2013 we also used Rome Cabs. They picked us up from the ship in the pouring rain and got us to the airport in record time due to our very early flight. We also used them pre-cruise when they picked up 4 couples at different hotels - and all on-time! Marianne
