Fort Lauderdale airport eateries?

Is there any place to eat near the airport other than in the airport itself? We have a late flight and wanted something other than high priced airport food. Anyone knows when is the earliest you can check in your luggage with Jet Blue? Thanks

The airport is so close to the "city" you can have your pick of many places. I presume you will have a car?

In the airport neighborhood are Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza, Ernie's, and Lester's Diner.

they will only take luggage about 4 hours or less before flight time...

 

Anthony's coal fired pizza is pretty yummy and i am a confirmed pizza snob!

No, we will not have a car, we do have a late flight home and from our experience last year, we did not like the airport food, over priced and not very good. We just want to check in our luggage and go get some food and wait. We know from experience that our stomach will be groaning very quickly after we get to the airport. Thanks for all your help. I understand that the airport food is overpriced but by the time you pay for a taxi to a restaurant and back to the airport, that will be the most overpriced meal you've ever had! It will cost $10-12 plus tip to go to the closest restaurants, each way.
