FlaBubba Posted August 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2011 How did you like the Red Frog Pub? We loved it. My group and I were on that boat for its third cruise. I loved it and would do it again in a heart beat. I just wish the Magic was coming to Port Canaveral rather then Texas.:)

Kaki Posted August 28, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2011 We are booked on the Magic in March leaving from Galveston. I was looking at the deck plans...what is the Tanadoor? Did you stay in a Spa cabin? If so, is the spa elevator only for spa cabin guests? or, can anyone use it? I can't find the search feature here on CC or I would have searched.:D Thank you!!!! T. Advisor King Posted August 28, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 28, 2011 It's all US dollars, even in Europe. Very strange. Imagine a ship from a European line running a US route and requiring Euro coins. Had to run all over the ship to track down quarters for the laundry. The only films I can remember were Casino Royale in Monte Carlo, Gladiator in Rome and Shrek 3 on one of the sea days. The free popcorn was a nice touch.. Hi the only Tanadoor I can think of was the tandoori indian food area on the lido deck 10. This served various Indian cuisine such as samosas, chicken tikka, lamb jalfrezi curries etc. A tandoor is a clay oven used to cook Indian food. We stayed on deck 7 in a balcony stateroom near the front which was ideal as deck 5,4, and 3 are where the restaurants, lobby, casino etc and 10 and 11 were lido and spa. I used the gym which was on the spa floor deck 11 and all lifts went there.
tammez Posted August 29, 2011 Author #22 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Hi I didn't try the sauna or steam room but they were free. My wife and daughter had girls and mum treatment for around 100 USD which they said was great!

Hi I do have all the Funtimes for this trip, and we did eat in cucina, Sound for the bigscreen were brilliant, it was loud, bot not to loud I had 8 beers during the past guest party, and about 6 during the sailaway party - I could have had much more, but, well, i did not want to be greedy I am still debating whether to do a review, as we only goy back last night, and i am so tired
tammez Posted August 29, 2011 Author #24 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Please tell me about the main production shows. Was the large screen by the pool annnoying? Did it play constantly during the day? Hi we did the behind the funtime tour which was available on the last 2 sea days to a maximum of 16 guests. We got to see all crew areas of the ship and meet the captain although expensive at 90 USD it was excellent. We went on the stage and met the lady who does the choreography. They started rehearsals in January in Vegas and all the costumes are made to measure for the current cast. Each show is unique to that ship. The first show was Destination Unknown starring Jason Byrne and the Carnival Magic singers and dancers. This was ok a sort of pop singing act with illusions but you will have seen them all before. The costumes and singing/dancing were great. The second show was Katy Stterfield who won a BBC television show soundalike competition as Dusty Springfield, she also did Cher and Tina Turner. The third show was a comedy juggler from the us who was excellent. There was also a Lionel Ritchie cover artist which we didn't see and the carnival legends show on the last night which was too late for the kids at 10.30 The big screen noises the least of your worries. Our trip had 4600 including 1200 kids. The screen is between the waterpark and the lido and has a small pool so it was quite noisy, but not too bad. The main problem for us was getting 2 beds, we gave up one sea day when they were all reserved by 7.00 in the morning! Don't worry they're are many beds available around the ship but don't leve it much later than 9.30!
tammez Posted August 29, 2011 Author #25 Share Posted August 29, 2011 How were the lines to everything. I am booked for the Magic on Christmas and was wondering about the lines to the buffet and other places on the Lido deck. I am excited about going but unsure since it is such a big ship. Hi, it does get busy after 9.00.until 12 for breakfast in the lido but the queues aren't bad perhaps 4 or 5 at the omelette area. We always found a table. The other option is taking breakfast in the southern lights restaurant which is waiter service and the egg benedict is superb. This is open usually for 2 hours only around 7 to 9 or 8 til 10 on sea days. The 3rd option is continental breakfast on deck 5 midship, this again is for 2 hours 7 till 9 but always seemed quiet. Here you can also purchase lattes etc for 3 USD. Lunch 12 till 3 in lido not too bad, nice waiter service for southern lights on sea days, Italian Cucina del Capitano ( forgot to go for lunch) and on sea days there was a barbecue on deck 5. Dinner was excellent in southern lights, we changed after the 1st night to table 715 which was upstairs and Daniel our waiter was superb. We took the early dining option. In-between we went to the steakhouse at an extra 30 USD pp which was fantastic , suishi bar,ice-cream bar and late night pizzas until 1.00. Oh and on sea days hidden away is high tea served from 3 till 4 very British! Choose you tea blend and have cucumber and salmon sandwiches and an array of cakes!
