Legend/Tampa Specific Questions

Life is good!

Sailing in 6 days AND saw a great Kid Rock concert last night in Charlotte to kick off the pre-vacation week celebration! :D

Do the televisions on the Legend have Interactive TV that allows you to order room service using it? (Panorama Deck if it matters)

Has anyone had success heading straight to Serenity for a place to park themselves while waiting for the cabins to be ready at 1:30? We'll be arriving early at the port since we are only staying a block away, so I am expecting a low embarkation number! :) I"ll be after shade and those long sofas under the shade look heavenly!

One of my customers told me there were some restaurants right at the port. Are these the ones I can find listed at the Channelside website or are there others nearby? Any recommendations? Seafood?

Does the Publix just west of the Convention Center sell wine? ( I have to ask - I'm from the part of the US with some funky alcohol laws!)

Any suggestions for killing about 4 hours with the time between we arrive in Downtown Tampa and our hotels check in time? I know there is an aquarium but that seems a bit redundant as I have 4 amazing snorkeling days scheduled! I love aquariums but I usually visit them to have a fish fix when I can't see the real thing! There is a Home Show at the Convention Center too - I thought at least that had air conditioning for about $8!

I'm allergic to urns. I should be OK, right? I mean there aren't any on the ship are there?

:D

I can't answer all of your questions. But when we were on the Legend in December, it did have the interactive TV for ordering room service, excursions, etc.

Don't be frightened by the urns. There are only a few. :D

Channelside is your best bet on the weekends, from my experience is that the rest of downtown kind of shuts down. If you want something good to do on Saturday rent a car and go out to clearwater beach, there is a number of the beach hotels that have parties. The people watching on Saturday nights is also quite good.

Yes Legend has interactive tv's so that you can order room service and keep an eye on your S&S account...

We had luck parking our butts in the Serenity area while on Magic a bunch of months ago... have not tried it on any other ship as of yet.

There are a couple of restaurants at Channelside. If you want an adventure, hop on the TECO Trolley and head up to Ybor City, where you'll be able to choose from additional restaurants. Lots and lots of opportunities for fresh Grouper, Tilapia, Mahi Mahi, etc...

Yes the Publix does sell wine - if you have a car, I'd head over to ABC Wines on Dale Mabry for a better wine selection.

The Home Show is a great time - we may be there checking out ideas for our townhouse, as we're getting closer to making improvements to it (putting down hardwood flooring on the first level, painting all over, redoing our kitchen cabinets, etc). There's also a couple of shopping malls to kill time at (Westshore and International Plaza), the Tampa Historical Museum, the Tampa Museum of Art and Glazer's Children's Museum, the Henry Plant Museum (on the campus of University of Tampa)... lots to do!

Only a couple of urns and none over by the casino ;)

Yes, Publix does sell wine,,,but,,,not until 11 A.M. on Sunday! Be sure to keep that in mind, if you can't get there any other day.

Good information from ChefSusan on time killing activities in Tampa.

Welcome to Tampa, and hope you have a GREAT cruise.

Tampa is such an awesome port to take out of. Maybe im a bit biased being born and raised there. But not to far from port there is also Westshore mall (very nice mall) and also about 3 minutes from there is International Mall, very VERY nice, and expensive 2 story mall with a few restaurants as well including the cheesecake factory!! The possibilities in Tampa really are endless. And as some people have mentioned there is the beach about 20 minutes away, but your about to go on a cruise so do you really want to go to the beach?? Also if you wanna use google you can probably find some really really good cuban restaruants in the area. I know there is a good one by Westshore mall. Also one last thing, in the airport itself there are quite a few restaurants. I believe a TGI Fridays and Chilis maybe. Idk.

It's a Hillsborough County Law I think,,,,no alcohol sold until after 11 A.M. on Sunday. I live in Polk County, and here it's after NOON before we can buy alcohol.

Great replies - thanks!

Not a shopper so the Malls won't work! (Harley shirts and Levi's for me - I work in the motorcycle industry!!) Not really a beach person either - unless it means serious snorkeling!

I've been to Tampa several times over the years but most of those I was visiting my parents who wintered there a few years or headed to Clearwater for some R&R.

Thanks again.

Urns.

Hmmmmm....

Ok, I have to ask...what do you mean by urns?

Urns are everywhere on the Legend. Or so I've heard. I plan to find out for myself in 4 weeks.:p Just look at any Legend review with pics. You will see the urns.

The Harley shop in Brandon, (Just East of Tampa on Rt. 60, maybe 15 or 20 minutes out from the port) is quite unique, and you might enjoy stopping by there. Harley shop in Tampa is pretty typical, but still enjoyable. As you no doubt know,,,,shirts are always available! :D

I'm saving for another shirt from the Harley Shop in Grand Cayman! Just like everything else in the Cayman Islands they are sky high but oh so very cool! :)

I actually look at, smell, hear, sell parts for and answer the phone every day of the week for an aftermarket Harley shop and I can't wait to get away from motorcycles! :D :D :D That's why I can't wait to get on the ship!
