I know some of you all can relate....

I am booked on the Fantasy May 1st, my first ever cruise at the ripe age of 47.

I am really starting to get excited now, and would love to hear from someone that has taken the cruise and doesnt mind sharing the experience.

I want to do this right...i may never get the chance again!!!!

Thanks.

Denise

Refresh me on the Itinerary the Fantasy is sailing these days?

When we were on her it was a Bahamas Cruise.

We enjoyed our cruise on the Fantasy......and I'm sure you'll have a great time where ever it's sailing.......

You will have a great time. This was our first ever cruise last year and we are hooked now! So much so we are going on the Fantasy again right before you on April 28th on a three day. The Fantasy alternates 3 and 4 day cruises to the Bahamas. For the previous poster, the 3 day leaves on Thursdays and goes to Nassau only. The 4 day leaves on Sunday and goes to Freeport and Nassau. Both offer one day at sea.

The Fantasy is great for first timers as it is smaller than the newer ships so it is not so hard to learn the layout but it still has all the amenities of the bigger ships except for the specialty/reservation only dining. And it offers quick getaway cruises which leave you wanting for more.

Don't worry about getting sick as these ships have stabilizers which limit the rocking and rolling people worry about unless you get some incredibly big sea swells. And in early May you should not experience that. If you are worried, talk to your pharmacist about the wrist bands offered for motion sickness (less than $10). My wife used one on another cruise last year in some rough conditions and she felt great the whole time.

Most of all, have a positve attitude. You are on a ship, out in the ocean with the sea breeze in your hair -- it tends to make all of your problems disapear for a few days. Have a great time!

We did the four-day Bahamas on Fantasy last year, and had a great time despite the weather (it was cold, rainy, rough seas).

Especially if this is your first cruise, study the deck plan in advance of your boarding so that you know how to get from your cabin to different points around the ship (like the lounges, bars, restaurants). Doing this will ensure you spend most of your time having a blast and less trying to figure out where you are onboard.

You'll have a great time!

I was on the Fantasy a couple of weeks ago and had a great time!! You'll definitely enjoy it. Just try to experience everything. Go to the shows, go to the casinos, hang out by the pool, eat in the dining room, eat in the bar/grill, etc. You will enjoy things you probably thought you didn't.

Have fun!!

I am sure you will have a great time! Try to see and squeeze in all you can (you can rest when you get home). I was 40 when we went on our first cruise and now I am hooked, I am sure you will too. Make sure you post a review when you return. We are booked on the Fantasy in July. Let me know about the cabins especially we have booked OV on empress deck.

We were on the Fantasy for our first cruise on Feb. 6, 2005 and loved it. In fact just this weekend my mom told me she would rather do another Fantasy cruise then Alaska or somewhere else. I am planning a surprise 75th birthday party for her in May and I maybe will give her tickets to another Fantasy cruise for next spring! We had rough water and really cold rainy weather, but it was still soooooooooooo much fun. We did the dolphin encounter in Nassau and the Glass bottom boat in Freeport. I know you will have a great time!

My mom had vertigo just before going ... in fact she had just gotten over it maybe 2 weeks before going on and did not have any kind of problem ... she laughingly says that on the first or second day she felt a little motion and thought oh no not the vertigo but it was just the movement of the ship and it was just barely noticeable ...

You will have a great time ... btw ... this is the same candy as on the other board ... ;)

The Food was great, and the service excellent. Every where you went, there was something going on. It was a carnival atmosphere. Disembarking was an event and definitely needed to be better organized. I would recommend the Fantasy to anyone who asked. This was our first cruise and we were not disappointed.

The Maître d' and Waiters were very friendly and attentive to our needs and request. The Decor in the Dinning Room was a bit loud & busy for me. I felt as though I was in a casino in Las Vegas, Bright Colors, Lights and no windows. It took a while for me to get use to it. By the second night I knew what to expect and it didn't bother me as much.

The ship stewards we very attentive to out needs. We always came back to our room to find it cleaned, by whom, only the towel animal knows. My wife enjoyed the yoga class, but thought it could be a little better. In Fantasy’s defense I should add that my wife thinks most yoga classes have room for improvement.

I know you will have a great time.

Hello,

Get to the port about 11-1130. Have all documents filled out.

Take half the clothes you think or have packed and twice the money.

After you board find your cabin and get acquanted with the ship. Luggage nay not get there for a an hour or more.

Go to the Lido deck for a drink of the day.

Attend the lifeboat drill..

Return to cabin and get everything situated and then go topside for the sailaway party.

Remember you are on a vacation.....don't worry be happy and don't sweat the small stuff. EYES WIDE OPEN and the world is your Oyster.

Enjoy dinners in the dining room.

Just try everything or nothing at all..........whatever floats your boat.

Anything else????

I am going in October but have been on the Fantasy several times....my favorite ship.

Same here! Fantasy was my first cruise (at the age of 38) Loved it so much and had so much fun that just 5 months later and here we are again getting ready to sail on Fantasy.

We were never bored, always had something to do. The pizza near the back of the Lido deck is to die for- My 15 yr old loved it (and she's real picky about pizza). The soft self-serve ice cream is excellent also. (Hint- next to the pizza station there is also a deli station- the roast beef baguette is fantastic!!!)

Make sure you check out your capers each day and highlight what you really want to do or see. I am sure you will have a truly delightful time!

Thanks all of you for the wonderful reports!! I am really anxious now to get on that boat!!!!!

Oh and about your possible motion sickness. All 4 of us take Bonine starting the day before the cruise, and then take one pill as soon as we wake up each morning. None of us felt sick. The only time it bothered me was in the little bathroom for some reason. I was fine all over the ship but once in the bathroom I could defintely feel the rocking of the ship. Just an FYI> :)

If you're really anxious about possible motion sickness have your doctor prescribe a Transdermal SCOP patch. It goes behind your ear.

The only problem I can see for you is that you have to get off at the end of the cruise.

Have a fru-fru drink for me.
