CleoSushi Posted August 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2011 Hi there, Has anyone used the kids area on RCCL Serenade recently? Will be there in a few wks with our 2yr DS and our friends are bringing their 1yr DD. Both are not fully potty trained but will like to know if the kids area can be used by them even if its for a few hours throughout the trip. Any tips or advice would be great. Thank you so very much. crusinmama06 Posted August 31, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2011 Sorry, no, there is no nursery area for this age yet. And according to the RCI web site "Serenade of the Seas ........... More to love coming Winter 2012" That's when the nursery is coming. :) Winter 2012. So right now, children must be 100% potty trained and "potty self sufficient" to use Adventure Ocean. Also, they will not be allowed to use any of the pools onboard. So look for threads here on the family board about brining an inflatable pool if water play is important to you on this trip. There is something call "Royal Infants and Tots" play group for parents and kids - they are 45 minutes sessions for kids Under 3. Some parents said they were "ok" - they are held in lounges or different areas around the ship. There is also a toy lending program. When you get onboard, look for the pages marked for your child's age group - there will be tips in there for things to do onboard with them. Have a great cruise! :D

omgkat Posted August 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Can toilet trained kids use the pool, or is it a hard age limit?

flhokie Posted August 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2013 No age limit as long as they are trained. This is true, but don't be surprised if you are questioned by the pool attendants. All children old enough for Adventure Ocean get wristbands at embarkation. Those that aren't old enough don't get one. DD (2) was potty trained. When she was in the splash zone the attendant started questioning me about whether or not she was potty trained. He seemed to do this with all parents of young children without wristbands. He did seem to remember who he spoke with and didn't question people repeatedly. On a side note, I understand why he was doing it, but I would also have liked for him to address the kids (or their parents) that were pulling their bathing suits down for the spray stream to hit their bare bottoms or the 9 year old girl missing the top to her bathing suit.
