letsgo39 Posted September 6, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2011 Has anyone waited to buy their tickets to the Accademia Museum until they arrived at Florence, Italy? If not, how did you obtain your tickets? Don't do it as the lines can be very long. Here is a link for tickets. http://www.uffizi.com/accademia-gallery-florence.asp
Susan-M Posted September 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2011 We booked through the museum reservation office by phone, which seems to be much less expensive than from the site in the above post. The operators speak English. Rick Steves mentions the reservation system in this article. Susan p.s. here's an additional article that should be of help: Click here

gonesalsa Posted September 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2011 We are going to Florence in November. Has anybody been there in November? Is a reservation necessary?
Susan-M Posted September 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2011 gonesalsa, for the cost of a phone call to Florence, and no payment required for your tickets until you arrive ... I would make a reservation. That way you know you'll be able to get in without waiting. When you get there, if you see that the line for those without reservations is short, you could go in that line, don't mention your reservation, and you'll simply pay the entrance fee (and not the 4 euro booking fee). But if there is a line, and you have a reservation, it will be worth the 4 euros each to not have to stand in a long line. Seeing the original statue of David is awesome! Susan p.s. meant to add...since it looks like you're going to be there pre or post cruise, if you are there for a couple of days and don't want to make a reservation, the advice in R. Steves' article (in the link that I posted above) might be of help.
