St. Thomas Beaches

Sailing on the Carnival Dream in Oct. and looking for a Beach in St. Thomas close to the pier. We just want to go for a short time and want a nice beach with some shade.

There really is no beaches near the port or at least in walking distance if thats what you mean.

All of them are going to require some sort of travel but the island is not to big so you take your pick.

Have you paid a visit to the St Thomas Port-of-Call board?

 

Lots of useful info there (as there is for all the port boards).

morningstar beach at the merriot is probably the closest, 10 mins in a taxi, nice beach too, though not much shade

You should grab a cab to Megans Bay, about 15-20 minutes, my wifey really loves it there, they have a great beach and shady areas within a park like setting, bathrooms too. If you really want the best beach, my favorite, you have to grab a ferry and cab to St.Johns Island, about 45-60 minutes and go to Truck Bay, that is the essence of the caribbean to me.

Sapphire beach is gorgeous, great snorkling right from shore. Take a tour with Sonny Listen, he will drop you off and pick u up. Best tour we have been on.

I loved Magen's Bay also. We rented a car right at the pier.

That would be TRUNK Bay on STJ, not Truck Bay - just don't want you to search for it and not find it - it's a great place.

 

How long are you there? I'd do a day trip to Virgin Gorda and the Baths if you can....

We just returned from cruising and St Thomas was our first stop. We took a taxi ($10pp each way) to Sapphire beach. Loved it! !t wasn't crowded and we didn't have to rent a chair or umbrella. We just sat our stuff under a tree. The water was great, clear and calm. Saw lots of fish, sea turtles, and a small shark.
