kathyemma Posted September 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2011 We are sailing on FOS for Thanksgiving. My dh and I are booked in a JS. My mom and dd are booked a few doors down in a D1. I want to give my mom and dd the JS. I know once we check it to the rooms we are registered in we can go to the front desk and get extra keys made and exchange keys. Of course these keys will just be keys and the other one would be our setsail pass. Am I getting this correct? Are there any issues I am going to run into? I know people do this all the time with kids. Have there been any problems? Thanks - Kathy
breeze123 Posted September 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2011 Will both rooms use the same credit card for the on board charges? If so, there shouldn't be an issue.

No. Everybody will pretty much have their own cc. Except my dd, she will be on mine or my moms. But my mom will have hers, I will have mine and my dh will has his. I am thinking everyone will have to carry two cards with them. I think on the room card i will just write "d" on it - so we will know that is for the door only. They will give you new cards and link credit cards to the appropriate stateroom. It's done all the time. No problem.

So, does this mean the 4 of us can go to guest services and they can switch our names around? So it will show my mom and dd in the JS? If so, that would make it so much easier. I don't want to have to carry around 2 cards. i would switch us now - but due to different rates I can't! Kathy
Sequim88 Posted September 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2011 With 36 Royal cruises I would assume you're C&A Diamond level of some sort but if Mom & dd are not C&A it might be worth checking that the double points go where you want them. Not sure how that would work - who paid for it or who stayed in it - but there might be an opportunity for it to not work as expected - if it matters. I am pretty who stays in a room never makes it's way to corporate. Whoever is on the reservation gets the points.

Kathy Yes you can. Also, it will not affect C&A points as they is determined by the booking. Bon Voyage!
katiel53 Posted September 16, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 16, 2011 I guess I missed why you wanted to switch the rooms. I see what others have posted and maybe I am a bit slow, but why do you want to do that? If you wanted a D1 cabin and your mother wanted a JS, why did you not book it that way? Not that it's any concern of yours. She asked a question, she got answers, not sure she has to explain her reasons. Geesh!

Probably D balcony discount.
kathyemma Posted September 16, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted September 16, 2011 Thanks for all the info! All 4 of us are d+ - so no worries on points. I don't think we will EVER make to the next level. But my dd is only 12 (13 when we sail) so she might make it next level in her lifetime. She is already a cruise freak. Desertbelle Posted September 16, 2011 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2011 Just wondering if you are in cs and if so which casino to avoid!!! No idea what cs is...but if you want to avoid me that's fine. :( I am sorry if you didn't like my comment, but I don't understand people asking such personal questions of someone. It's like they are trying to find out something they can attack or find fault with. The OP asked a question, for her own information, not sure any of us have the right to drill her about why she would want or need to know that information. Sadly, some people seem to cross the line on CC quite often. I guess it's one of my hot spots.

Since your rant is directed at my question, not that my reason for asking is any of YOUR business, but since you have gone bonkers over my question, I will tell you my reason for asking. I thought if we knew why she was asking the question, if there was some other suggestion that could be offered to her, we could do it. I don't really care why the OP wants to give her cabin to her mother. I was trying to be helpful, but I see that is way beyond your comprehension. I never said I had a right to question the OP, all I wanted to do was help her. Perhaps you are the one who should learn not to attack people on here, just a suggestion! I went "bonkers"? I don't think I did either, but perhaps you are very sensitive...you wouldn't want to see me in real attack and bonkers mode. :D Though I do feel a little attacked myself. I only meant to convey that the OP asked a simple question and got answers, it should stop there. No need to dig deeper into it.
