Airline schedules

We are trying to plan our pre and post-cruise stays around next year's NZ/Aust cruise. When we went to Tahiti, most of the flights went there from LAX in the evening and the return flights left late at night. Is there a general time frame for flights heading to Aukland and returning from Sydney?

The non-stops to Auckland generally leave LAX in the early- to mid-evening, so as to arrive early the following morning (plus a day for the date line).

Flights from Auckland to LAX tend to leave in the mid- to late evening, so as to arrive in LAX mid-morning to early afternoon (but on the same day by calendar date because of the date line again).

There's now an Auckland-San Francisco flight, which seems to follow much the same pattern.

Non-stops from LAX to Sydney usually leave later in the evening because of the time difference between Auckland and Sydney, and also arrive in Sydney early the following morning. There are a handful of day flights, but far fewer than the night flights as those are generally preferred by the passengers who matter to the airlines (ie the ones paying big money).

The flights from Sydney to LAX are spaced out rather more widely over the morning and early afternoon, and have a wider spread of arrival times at LAX over the morning, from very early to near lunchtime.

Does anyone know how Princess schedules those leaving from Tampa or Orlando, Fl. -- going to Sydney and returning from Auckland. We are now scheduled to sail on the Diamond Princess on February 1 with a 3 day pre-cruise package at the Four Seasons. Princess air is $1707. We asked for deviation on United Airlines on our chosen flights as we want direct flights to and from Los Angeles. Shocked that Princess asked for a total of $394 per person for deviation, including the $75 charge. This brings our air to $2101. Having insurance for the entire trip is important to us so we would like Princess to handle the flight arrangements.

Knowing in advance the flights Princess chooses would be of great help as finding out we have inconvenient flight times 45-60 days prior to our leaving would leave us with very few options. Princess refuses to answer this although they probably routed those who sailed on the Sapphire this year.

Any information would be appreciated.
