floridatravelersforlife Posted February 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2012 when we were in southern New Zealand in 2006 we met a whole bunch of expedition cruisers who had just come off a ship. Invercargill, NZ is the usual debarkation point

PerfectlyPerth Posted February 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Heritage sail from NZ http://heritage-expeditions.com/regions/antarctica however I would add that I have recently sailed with at least 20 very experienced Antarctic travellers who rated this company 1 out of 10 for everything from service to food to safety. So I am passing on the link - but not necessarily any actual recommendations ! Aurora sail from Aus and NZ and I know many people who have sailed with them and had very positive feedback as recently as December. http://www.auroraexpeditions.com.au/ My ship sailed from Hobart Tasmania in Dec but as it was its retirement voyage I don't know if Quark/Peregrine will have any more itineraries on that side in the future. But its worth watching their site: http://www.peregrineadventures.com/
