A while back on the main roll call for our upcoming cruise; 2 girls had gotten on talking about a nude beach/hotel in Aruba. If I recall right, I believe they even said, the hotel would pick you up at the pier. Our roll call is currently almost 200 pages but I will take a look and see if I can find that post.

I tried to locate those girls under their screen name and they only had two posts. I think those posts on our roll call had been removed as I remember, it became a hot topic when brought up. However, I did find the following excerpt on the web under another site. Hope it helps!

Toplessness & Nudity

From Francis Jacobs, the PR Coordinator of the Aruba Tourism Authority,

"I would like to explain a little bit about your concern. Topless in Aruba is not illegal, there is no law against it, but it's not permitted on public beaches. We have two private beaches where they accept to do so, which are The Renaissance island & De Palm island. Manchebo Beach Resort deals a lot with European & they have a separated area where European go Topless, but they are not allowed to walk on the beach topless. Thank you so much for your interest on the island Aruba, & hope to see you soon."

I'd still be cautious. The Caribbean is notoriously antigay.

While some islands are notably anti-gay( I personally have never had any issue's, even in Jamaica) this is not the case in Aruba and Curacao. They are two of the most gay friendly islands in the Caribbean. Try Jim's Place, a gay bar in Aruba and Hotel Kura Hulanda Beach Resort on Curacao where we have met many gay couples. Google Gay Aruba and Gay Curacao to find out all the gay friendly options.

On the RSVP cruise in 2010 our ports were Curacao and Aruba.

First stop was Curacao and 2 friends and I went scuba diving, grabbed a taxi to get to the Dive Bus. The driver then infoemd us: "there us a gay ship coming today!". We said: "yes, we are on the gay ship". :D I guess we did not look quite like what he expected. ;) But i did not detect any negative reaction.

That night was the last night of Carnival and we went on a HAL?RSVP excursion; 500 of us in a section of stands along the parade route. We got some chilly reactions from some of the older folk, but we partied along and the younger people migrated closer to us in their sections, wanted their pictures taken with us etc. Two of the parade groups stopped and welcomed RSVP to the festivities and when we had to leave before it was quite over, the older folk cheered that we were leaving and the younger crowd thanked us for being there and told us to come back as we definitely knew how to party.

Thanks guys for all your replies , i know the caribbean is very limited , i love nudist beaches , well what can i say i am european , so one of the limited options for wintersun for us europeans are the caribbean as europe is too cold except for the canaries maybe . I dont understand these countries why not dedicate some secluded beaches as nudist , this would definately bring in some extra dollars or euros , especially in this economic climate , and the gay clientiel is always very loyal once we like a brand or place !!!! Anyway will continue my research and last but not least there is always our balcony for those sea days !!!! lol see you guys ....best regards Dirk

We've not had any issues, but I've read about those who have. I'd just really be cautious.

The ABC islands are much more gay-friendly than the rest of the Caribbean, especially Curacao and Bonaire. There are no gay-centric venues/beaches in Bonaire, but it's very relaxed and welcoming.

Sorobon beach is beautiful. I think it hosts a clothing optional week or two in the summer, but not sure about full nudity there otherwise.

Hi Dirk,

I have extensive travel time to Aruba. To my knowledge, mostly all of the beaches are beautiful on a sunny day. Where the ship docks, is the downtown area. If you wind up going to a regular beach you would head (coming off the ship) to the left which is the northwest part of the island. The hotels are in 3 categories. Low rise, mid rise and high rise, the latter being at the far end of the island. There are no nude beaches along that way. But if you were a guest of the Renasance hotel, across the marina from the cruise dock, I believe they have an off shore private island that has a nude section. You could inquire with the hotel on the main street there by the bridge. The casino and hotel are all the same place. There is another section (timeshares) that are on the ocean, that also belong to the same hotel chain.

Sorry for the lengthy note. Good luck.

Rick

Yeah in the the bus back to the ship, the driver put the love boat theme on and the whole bus was singing along..... :-)

Since when going nude on beach means your gay? Women can do it. Are they gay? I can see the "PDA" thing going on, that would raise suspision, but if your just out there on beach getting sun and swimming, there is nothing "Gay" about that.

True, but when you see people "coupled" it can send out a signal. We're just a bit cautious that's all. Read some of the other posts & you'll see some people have had issues. So it can happen.
