Craps on Carnival Destiny

We were on the Destiny in April. Had a great time the whole cruise. Won the Slot Tournament for 500 in the afternoon and had a great time at Atlantis where the table minimums were 25 bucks. Didn't have a lot of cash on me so i was lucky at the slots and went in for 100 bucks. The first gent to roll , rolled 4 nines in a row. I took my chips and said adios to Atlantis and went back to the ship for lobster dinner. I also had a great roll at the table one night. Rolled for 40 - 45 minutes. Made a nice sum of cash as well as every one else at the table. The table was very well attended every night. Good crowd. Gave me a standing ovation :D Enjoy the cruise and knock em dead.

I'm not a controlled shooter so all i can say is the table was standard size and rock hard no soft sponge type feel to it. When i toss the dice, i try and land them at the very corner where the back board and the table meet to try and avoid excessive roll out. The table was not as long as some i've seen in Vegas and other destinations. For whats it worth.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO evergladesgator: This type of information is what Dicenator is looking for. I like hard tables myself. I would think the table is a 12 foot table. Avoiding an excessive roll out is good. I've seen people roll the dice and it came off the wall so hard the dice became projectiles. People that play in Las Vegas and/or Reno tend to use hard rolls. They believe a soft roll will bring out the devil.

I guess i should have said felt on slate. Yeah, some yahoos THROW the dice so hard they end up back on the side on the table the shooter was throwing from knocking down the stacks of chips the dealers have in front of them as well as tossing around the rest of the tables line bets. Pisses me off Usually they are drunk or had to much to drink.

  • 5 weeks later...

I agree that the tables on Carnival ships tend to be hard. The only thing that I noticed on my last Carnival cruise in August on the Legend was that the rubber pyramid wall seemed to be bouncier than most. My throwing is Underhand which is a very soft throw and I'm looking for a bounce back of 6 inches or less. I had a tough time doing this consistently on the Legend.

My cruise on the Destiny is next Thursday and I'll post my usual report when I get home.

We were on the Sensation recently and the CRAPS table was DEAD EVERY NIGHT. Stickman holding stick straight up in the air talking to one dealer ALL night the whole trip. Tried my luck the first night and it was a disaster. Could not make two rolls in a row and i'm not a wrong side bettor. So i just played slots the whole trip. Our trip to the casino in Freeport was no better. The trip to Atlantis was also a bomb. My only salvation was two video poker machines that bailed me out and put me in the plus side for the trip on the last night. Hey Dice, that's exactly what i try to do with the dice myself. Try and land them within 6" from the back wall. Fairly good at it too. Well, our next trip is on the Miracle for New Years Eve. Hope to start the year off on a positive note. Gonna try the casinos in Aruba and Curacao too.:D

evergladesgator,

you misunderstood what I said about my throw. The 6 inch distance I referred to is the bounce back after hitting the wall. My throw is Underhand and is low about 4 inches above the table and on a typical table I try to land the dice typically around 18 to 21 inches depending on the table. If the table is really bouncy I try to land at 33 inches. I want the dice to bounce and hopefully hit the band of rubber below the pyramids. The only issue is that I will get a different bounce height depending on how the dice initially contact the table. If they land flat it adsorbs alot of the energy and the dice will just make it to the wall. If they land on an edge at 45 degrees they will bounce up at the height of the throw approximately. This is something that I'm not able to control at all.

Dice,

My aim to roll is to throw the dice at the very bottom of the back wall and bottom of table. Don't know if your familiar with Jai Alai but in that sport they try and land the ball off the front wall all the way back to the very bottom corner and the shot is called a CHULA. There is no way for the opposite player to return the ball cause it just slides out on the floor. This is my intention so the dice will not rotate so much when they hit the bottom corner and hopefully just roll out a very short distance without bouncing all over the table.

I'm heading out Saturday on a 2 week cruise to the Western and Eastern Carib. I was looking at the calendar recently and noticed something. Too bad we didn't leave yesterday or Friday being a crap player. Yesterday was 11/7/11 and Friday is 11/11/11. Fridays date sounds a little better.

Trip Report

Nothing to report. Philadelphia airport was fogged in all day yesterday. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 10 and when we got to the gate it was delayed until 11:15. This was still OK. A little later it got delayed until 12:15, now it is very iffy. At 12 they announced that our plane would arrive at 12:15 and depart for Miami at 1. This was too late to make a 4 PM departure. There were at least 11 of us on this flight scheduled for this cruise. We left the airport at 12:30 and went to Atlantic City where my wife won $1400 at Ultimate Texas hold em. We lost $900, cost of the cruise and airfare but more than won it back.

Hi Dicenator,

I really enjoy playing craps and especially like tossing the dice. I recently started practicing the underhand throw, and I would really appreciate your answers and insight to some questions regarding your underhand toss.

I sent you an e-mail on November 5 to rmiller@itcmed.com. Please check your e-mail and respond to my e-mail.

Thank you,

My wife figured out how to turn lemons into lemonade. With her $1400 win on Thursday, we went back to Atlantic City on Saturday. Well she hit another straight flush at Ultimate Texas hold em and was up $500 for the day.

We just booked another cruise for next Sunday Nov. 20th on the Norwegian Gem out of Manhattan. This is a 7 night cruise versus the 4 night cruise that we just missed. Plus we can drive there, no flying needed.

This cruise that we missed was the first one where we didn't fly there the day before the cruise. My wife had to work on Wednesday, that's why we didn't go down the day before.

Carnival refunded the taxes for the cruise and the shore excursion that we had booked. We tried to get them to give us a credit for a future cruise but it doesn't look like they will do anything. We had some type of trip insurance from our credit card company but so far it looks like that is totally useless.

Howdy Dicenator: Just returned on Friday from my cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette. It was a decent cruise. Didn't do so well in the Casino, but, it happens from time to time. Can't win all the time. I tried landing my dice further back, but, then it sometimes didn't make it to the wall. Need to hit the back wall to make use of a controlled throw. Had same problem last year on QM2 with dead spots. Looking forward to next year's cruise.
