cruisenanny Posted October 7, 2011 Author #101 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Ok, here we go with the Nick & Nora's steakhouse review. I will say upfront that aside from one of our main dishes, everything was excellent & I had my main WOW dish of the cruise here this night. The steakhouse is gorgeous and has an amazing atmosphere as we are seated. Beautiful lighting & music is playing, we are perusing the menu & order some wine, try some delicious focaccia bread, etc. etc.. Next thing we know, a second level of music comes blasting up through the open atrium area in the front of the restaurant!! It was the nightly live music from the atrium bar MANY decks down being rocketed up into my otherwise beautiful dining experience. I was waiting for the earplug cart to arrive after the steak cart departed, but it never did... And so, this is how it was for the entire meal, with a few 30-60 breaks here & there. I can tell you it is the only reason we didn't try to go back again & again..:( Anyhow, onto the food, glorious food.... My amuse was salmon with candied tomato & balsamic, very nice. Chris had a tiny crock of tomato soup that I didn't get to photograph. Chris has the escargots presented in about 6 different ways & said they were very good. And I had this scrumptious crabcake Next Chris had the French onion soup that had a depth & strength of flavor you cannot imagine. It was ALMOST too much, but it wasn't & so it was fabulous.. And I had my most outrageous WOW dish of the entire cruise. Lobster bisque. There are no words...
cruisenanny Posted October 7, 2011 Author #102 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Then I believe Chris had the Ceasar salad & I had just a few bites of this very yummy iceberg salad with ranch dressing. Was starting to get full.. Chris's entree was the NY strip. A disappointment unfortunately. Rather tough & fatty (and I guess there is a good kind of fat that can be on steaks?? but Chris said this was NOT the good kind) I thought he should have gotten the porterhouse or filet... And I had the filet & lobster, very good. Now DESSERT TOO??? oh my! I had about 3 bites of this most incredible cheesecake. A WOW dessert & I wish I could have taken it with me, but I didn't have the nerve to ask. Oink Oink And Chris had the chocolate sampler of which I tasted everything. Excellent, all of them. So as we exited the restaurant, I was waddling so slowly that i triggered the automatic doors to open. It was either stop entirely to take a pic of the rain, or keep waddling. I chose to take the pic, as you can see.. And so, somehow we got ourselves to the cabin, peeled off our now over streched clothing, traded it for something VERY large & comfy, and passed out until sometime the next morning.. I so agree atrium music is annoying--we had a cabin onetime two doors down from elevators and open area that was near atrium...music could be heard in the cabin...why would they design like that? Now the photo above is greatly composed and lighting great... now I would have said ...dear DH can you move the cone for the photo? ;)
Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted October 7, 2011 #104 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Sure! We use Oleander cycles and they are located right there in the dockyard. Also a location in Hamilton & St George. The price for one double scooter (can handle two riders, but we get one for each of us) is something like $79 for the first day and in the $40's for the second & third days. They also rent singles for slightly less per day. You can find them online & reserve in advance if you want. OH!! I see you are from Carmel! I have family in Indianapolis & will be spending a week there next month:) Thanks for hint on double scooter size-- power is important it sounds. I vowed not to be a passenger again after doing a "double" jetski in Grand Caymen excursion. As passenger I had such chapped legs from rubbing and hanging on slippery seat. Plus you can't see as well either. Thanks and for weather temp input too. I like idea of fall as a getaway. Are you coming for Thanksgiving to visit? I love the fall getaway also, something to look forward to all summer, I am not a fan of extreme heat! So I have to avoid my two favorite places during the summer months, Bermuda & WDW. I am coming to Indy the week before Thanksgiving.

We must be children separated at birth. Are you coming for pleasure? Too bad you aren't here this weekend-fall colors and glorious perfect dry weather. Oh wow, that's crazy! Yep, I love, love, love Disney. We go almost every Jan for our anniversary & the weather is just heavenly to me. An escape from the extreme cold of winter, my second least favorite season!! lol I am coming to Indy for pleasure. Just to hang with my DEAR Aunt & Grandmother. Two amazing ladies who practically raised me and are the reason I have good childhood memories. I visit them at least 3x a year. This trip my Aunt & I are taking Gram to Nashville for a stay at Gaylord's Opryland Hotel, her old stomping grounds back in the day. It will be hard for her as she doesn't get around very well these days, but I know she will love it, to get back there one more time... My dear Grandfather is buried nearby & we will visit his grave too, of course, and place something for the holidays.

IBsaved Posted October 8, 2011 #111 Share Posted October 8, 2011 I guess we turned in early that first night in Bermuda & were up that next morning eagerly awaiting an announcement as to what we were doing. Staying or leaving? We had coffee in the room........ and waited. We had breakfast up on the lido....... and waited. We read our papers for the day and went back up to lido for MORE coffee...... and finally at about 9:30 Captain came on & said we were STAYING!!! Yay woo hoo!! He said we would have bad weather for the day, particularly around 2pm. (would up being a little later than that when the worst hit, more like 3:30 to 9ish, but it was never that bad, just rain really..)We decided it would be silly to go get the scooters back now, when we would likely have rain all day. We decided we would get them later this afternoon & turn them in the next day by the same time, thus saving about $80 by only having them for two full days instead of three. OK great, so we really had no rain all day so far, headed over the Oleander to get our scooters back around 2:45 & decided to take a short putt before the rain came. Well we rode out a bit, and then a bit further and further. Long story short, we really pushed our luck and had a rather unpleasant ride back in a serious downpour. Bad judgement call, live & learn. Thankfully we both made it back safely, so it was just an adventure. LOL My HUGE salad for lunch today! Its obscene, I know. I would like to plead temporary insanity... Steakhouse later for dinner. OH, and a few bites for dessert, of course. This choc cake was pretty darned fabulous too. I would like credit for choosing the FAT FREE milk. I love it! All those scrumptious (fattening!) desserts and what is the DOD...fat free milk! My way of thinking!!

Thanks for writing your review, it's been great! Thanks, lots more to come tomorrow! There was no need for sign up and no fee. Ours was first sea day at noon & was listed in the fun times. It was a lot of fun and one of the better free activities I have encountered on a ship. Get there early, at least 15 minutes if not more.

I only drink FF milk because it's just what I prefer, but when I saw that pic it struck me as pretty funny! BTW, the other cake was the diet coconut & it was very good. Also the choc chip cookies were yummy, got cookies & milk one night from room service!

cruisenanny Posted October 8, 2011 Author #119 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Ok, here we go with the last day in Bermuda, and mercifully, the weather was absolutely perfect!! (the first day was partly sunny, yes, BUT it was extremely humid & very hot, even on the scooters we were sweating all day) So I don't remember what we did for breakfast this day, but I know I took this "breakfast of death" one morning of the cruise, so I may as well show you now & get the shame over with... (In my defense, I did NOT eat it all, lol) But seriously, what the h*ll was I thinking?? Please note again, the FF milk AND... that was sugar free syrup folks!! cruisenanny Posted October 8, 2011 Author #120 Share Posted October 8, 2011 So off we go on the scooters to enjoy this last glorious day. I intended on getting some more church photos, and this one is right outside of the dockyard. It's corresponding graveyard is my #1 favorite on the island. Random rooster running through the graveyard, love it! Isn't he gorgeous?? He's in the photo above also, if you look closely.

Thanks! You know, I think a lot of people don't consider Bermuda for a cruise. I can tell you, having been to many islands down in the Caribbean, Bermuda is my favorite to date. Nothing has ever even come close for me (Dominica was gorgeous too though, I must say). So do give it a try, you will love it:)

It is an Olympus VR-310 14mega pixel. It is my first digital camera, decided I wanted one for my b-day a few months ago, after I had to rely on others for photos of my daughters wedding. I know NOTHING except how to zoom in & out and if it looks good I snap the photo. LOL but I think its a nice little camera. Glad you like my pics, Thanks!
