cruisenanny Posted October 8, 2011 Author #126 Share Posted October 8, 2011 So next we headed to our favorite beach area, Warwick long Bay & Jobsons Cove, off of South Shore road. I was bound & determined not to leave Bermuda without getting in the water. We arrived & made the short hike to Jobsons. We got a great spot very near the water that had a bit of shade since it was right up against the rock. View from "our spot" He was so cute & came right up to my feet! Some people climb up this, I am not one of them.. A "cruise toes" sneak peek!
cruisenanny Posted October 8, 2011 Author #127 Share Posted October 8, 2011 And here is Horseshoe bay. We have never swam here, it is a little more crowded than we like. BUT would be great for families or those who want to swim where there is facilities & lifeguards. Most popular beach on the South shore, and you can see why, gorgeous. And another Warwick Long Bay shot, it is not usually quite this rough. Up next, the beautiful Railway Trail. Here's a sneak peek
cruisenanny Posted October 8, 2011 Author #128 Share Posted October 8, 2011 So all over the island there are signs for the "Historic Bermuda Railway Trail", from back in the day when someone decided this 20 mile island needed a railway....? Sorry, that's all the history I know, except that it was not a smashing success. Anyhow, it stops and starts again all over the island, and I think this is a particularly nice stretch of it in Somerset, near the dockyard. And a stairway off the trail My reward "view" for climbing down all those stairs Now for the fun part, back up those stairs
gapearl Posted October 9, 2011 #129 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Great review and pictures. I agree about the restrooms on the ship, they're so clean. The Miracle is such a beautiful ship. Did you by any chance see any flamingos at any of the beaches? Do you have any pictures of the pink sand beaches?

Did you by any chance see any flamingos at any of the beaches? Do you have any pictures of the pink sand beaches? Hi & thanks! No, there are no flamingos on the island, except maybe at the aquarium and zoo:p The photo below of Jobsons Cove shows a bit of the pink hue. They may be a little more pronounced in person but the beaches aren't a dramatic PINK..

cruisenanny Posted October 9, 2011 Author #133 Share Posted October 9, 2011 I am loving your review!!!! You have now made me add a cruise on the Miracle to Bermuda on my bucket list. Please keep the review coming!!! I am very sad to say that this was the last Miracle cruise to Bermuda:( Hoping somehow Carnival will change their mind... And their last scheduled sailing to Bermuda PERIOD is 4/12 on the Pride. So, at the moment we will have to choose another line if we want to cruise Bermuda beyond next April... Strange, isn't it??
cruisenanny Posted October 9, 2011 Author #134 Share Posted October 9, 2011 So we headed back to the dockyard & turned in our scooters, sigh... snapped a few more pics on the walk back to the ship You can rent jet skis here And someone towing a jet ski, with a child driving the front jet ski, they were driving slow & stayed in the marina area. Taken from our balcony. The Dawn was with us today Great ship, have sailed her twice, though not to Bermuda.. hmmmm
cruisenanny Posted October 9, 2011 Author #135 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Snapped this at some point today A different view of the Hamilton area And another view of the south shore area And my delicious lunch from the International buffet, today was Mexican. Again, carved meat, (pork or beef, I don't remember). A beef empenada that I took thinking I probably wouldn't like it, but I did, and tortilla crusted chicken that was excellent. I also tried the "tortilla soup", not bad.
smeck Posted October 9, 2011 #136 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks! You know, I think a lot of people don't consider Bermuda for a cruise. I can tell you, having been to many islands down in the Caribbean, Bermuda is my favorite to date. Nothing has ever even come close for me (Dominica was gorgeous too though, I must say). So do give it a try, you will love it:) Totally agree we honeymooned and cruised twice more. Love the island friendly population and very clean. With the hotels and airfare so expensive cruising is the best bargain for a Bermuda vacation.
cruisenanny Posted October 9, 2011 Author #137 Share Posted October 9, 2011 sail away from Bermuda. A different view of the dockyard area, from closer to where the Dawn was docked. Note the pink/blue buses most people use to get around the island, they are EVERWHERE. A few Dawn pics, as we were leaving.. Everyone was shouting & cheering!! cruisenanny Posted October 9, 2011 Author #138 Share Posted October 9, 2011 So we were sad to be leaving Bermuda, but we still had 3 nights & two sea days to look forward to, so that helped ease the sting a bit... We got seated in a different section of the Your time dining room tonight, and the service was painfully slow. We wanted to catch Bob Brizendine as "the worlds greatest show-off" in the Phantom lounge. His act was OK, pretty much a slow moving magic act, but not bad in the end.. We also tried to go down to Mad Hatters & see some of "Superstar Live" which is kareoke to a live band. There was not really anyone there to sing, and I am sorry to say, we left durring the "hosts" first song, oh my.... No comedy tonight:( For dinner I had the Penne Mariscos (sp?)for an app, and a pretty good chicken dish for my entree. We left without dessert (not such a bad thing!! lol) because it had taken over 90 min to get these two courses & we were about to be late for the show we wanted to see... The Penne mariscos, not very good, followed my 3 bite rule on this one for sure. This was probably one of the nights that we got some room service later that evening.... Tonight is my sons 24th B-day party (the family one, lol. He had the REAL one with his friends Friday night!!:p Haha) So I may get to the last sea days later tonight, but more likely tomorrow... Chris & I are both sick, started yesterday. Very scratchy throat, stuffy nose, achey, groggy, etc. Maybe we picked something up on the ship??? I hope not for others sakes, but either way, we are sick:(
laumicmah Posted October 9, 2011 #139 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Love your review...thanks! The Miracle is on my list as is Bermuda...guess I won't cross them both off at the same time. We are also big Disney go'ers...own DVC points. I have a question for you...we have never done the steak house (also on my list)...I noticed that you got 3 or 4 apps each...can you do that? Might have to make that trip to the steak house in April.

Our other 3 courses were an app choice, a soup choice & a salad choice. Could you order 3 apps? Like, shrimp cocktail, escargot & a crabcake?? I don't know, but I bet maybe you could, just no extra entrees. lol The portions were huge and after the app & soup I couldn't take more than a few bites of anything.. Maybe confused with Bahamas and the "marching flamingos?" The flamingos are in open area at Adaztra zoo Nassau Bahamas. Sorry to hijack review but thought this may help if looking for Flamingos to view. cruisenanny Posted October 10, 2011 Author #148 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Ok, on to the last two sea days. These will go quickly, as we didn't do much except relax! Chris had the Aisian food for lunch today, I tried a spring roll from there, it was tasty. I was trying to catch a decent sunset all week, this was as close as I got. And a couple dining room shots, lots of booths. The view from our favorite seating area, on the 2nd floor railing, looking down into the 1st floor dining "set time" dining room. cruisenanny Posted October 10, 2011 Author #149 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Our choices for the last elegant night. Chris had the escargot, said they were OK. I had the eggplant app, was pretty good. Chris had the chateaubriand, he liked it. I had the Basa dish, was very good, glad I tried it. And for dessert we tried the baked Alaska the Ammaretto cake (neither were very exciting)
cruisenanny Posted October 10, 2011 Author #150 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Ater dinner we caught most of "ticket to ride" in the Phantom theater, I thought it was great, Chris not so much (but he is never big on the singing/dancing shows). We left a few minutes early to catch the first of two new comedians on this leg of the cruise, Hal Spears. Very funny guy! We stayed for the next adult show as well, Carl Faukenberry, also pretty funny! We think the punchliners Comedy club is a super addition to evening entertainment options, loved every show we saw there! Chris won $200 in the casino tonight, a pretty big win considering our limit is $20 each per night the casino is open. We cashed out & went home having broke even in the casino, I was thrilled! So, on to the last sea day. We completed what had become our normal morning routine and decided to give the MDR one last try for lunch. Luckily we had PLENTY of time to kill, and once again after a painfully long wait, we got our lunch. It was fine, but as was the case during our first MDR lunch, the food was not worth the wait. The lido had such great variety & choices for lunch, I don't think I will be trying MDR lunch again anytime soon. Anyhow, we both got the Chicken Parm
