Summit Category 1B

I have been on the Galaxy one time and just loved Celebrity. We are booked on the Summit for 10/15 in a category 1B, room 7186. Can someone tell us how they liked this ship or this category room? It is near the back of the ship and does have a balcony and a 191 sq ft room. We have never had a balcony before. Is it best to take the shuttle or taxi to the pier in Fort Lauderdale? Someone told us to just take a taxi but I don't know if they knew what they were talking about??

We were in a 1B, #7197 on Millie and the location was fine. The balcony just has two chairs and a small table. Your cabin will have plenty of room for two; we had 3 of us.
FLL to the pier is just a 10 minute drive. If you are flying in the day of departure, the taxi fare will be about $10. If you have cruise air already purchased, your transfer will be included so you might as well use it. Getting a taxi back to the airport sometimes takes more time because everyone is getting off the ship at the same time. Last cruise we waited about 45 minutes for a small shuttle van service (7 people) as it was a mad house. Just part of traveling.
The cabin does not have internet connections. However the Computer Lab is great. It was $2 per minute but there are packages for about $100 per week.
Bon Voyage

I can't help about the Internet connection but you will love the Summit. It's awesome. As for a shuttle or a cab -- I think it's well worth the $$ to take a cab by yourself to the Pier. Then there is no hassle!

The internet prices seem to vary. On our cruise last month it was 50 cents a minute in the computer room which is called "Online" on the Summit deck plans. I didn't use it so I can't tell you about a package deal for the whole cruise. You can check with Guest Relations as soon as you board to get the details for your cruise.

I have sailed on the Summit, Infinity and Millennium and the deck layout is the same. On the Summit we were in an aft facing cabin (with the big balcony) on the Vista deck just down the hall from your cabin. Our cabin was just like yours and we were very comfortable in it.

The 191 sq ft. was adequate and there was a lot of storage space. Be sure to open anything that looks like it will open--on the side of the mini bar there are shelves in the cabinet tht houses the mini bar. Your balcony is big enough to hold 2 chairs and a small, low table. It would be difficult to eat a full breakfast out there, but a continental breakfast would fit. We spend a lot of time on the balcony, and I'm sure once you have one you will want one every time you sail!
