I'mGrammy Posted April 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2005 We're sailing Coral Princess July 30 and are considering either the Valley of the Glaciers Helicopter tour from Skagway, or Mendenhall Tour from Juneau. We are in Skagway until 7:45 PM and Juneau 3:30. So, we have a much longer stay in Skagway. I would appreciate your opinion on which tour you would recommend. The price is the same for both. After reading a lot of threads, most say not to miss the visitors center at Mendenhall. So, would it be better then to tour from Skagway? We haven't decided on any other shore excursions since we want to plan the helicopter tour first. Thanks for your help. Grammy
Budget Queen Posted April 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2005 Fit it in where it fits best. ANY glacier helicopter landing is spectacular. :) The Mendenhall visitor center is excellent, but consider all the touring options available there and make the best use of your time. Another strong consideration- get to the Park Service visitor center in Skagway - very worthwhile http://www.nps.gov/klgo/schedule.htm
I'mGrammy Posted April 3, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 3, 2005 Thanks Budget Queen. Seems then most sense to book heli tour in Skagway, and in Juneau do Mendenhall visitors center and maybe the tram. Is there a web site for the Park Service visitor center in Skagway that you mentioned. Thanks, Eileen
