Cruise Critic Meetings

This is my first cruise, but reading about it has gotten me even more excited (I did not think that was possible!). What exactly are cruise critic get togethers on the boat, and who can go to them? It sounds like it makes the trip even more fun to get to know people through getting involved in that.

Cruise critic meetings are unofficial, casual get togethers by people who "met" on these boards. Everyone is welcome. We brought along new friends we met at the airport.

NCL has nothing to do with them, although they helped us coordinate a meeting spot & provided coffee & cookies b/c a member of our group took the time to contact some one aboard ship to arrange this. I understand that doesn't always happen. Maybe it should; it seems to me it would go along way toward improving customer relations.

If you want to have one or go to one, go over to the ROLL CALL board for your cruise line & read the post headings until you find your ship & sailing date. This is a bit easier when the search function works. If you can't find your cruise, start a thread.

As your sail date gets closer pick a place & time to meet. People have suggested doing this 2x in case people get lost / forget. Remember, this is unofficial so it will not be in your Freestyle daily. Some of our group met the night before at a hotel for drinks. Most of us fortuitously bumped into each other at lunch. We had also exhanged cabin info off line so we had a way to find each other. Bring post-its for leaving notes. At our 1st "unofficial official" get together, one of the group distributed door signs. Bring a magnet to hold it up.

Hope that helped. Have a fun trip.

But many have had luck setting up their own thing.

There were a couple of groups from here last year on the Dawn that even had something to wear that would identify them to the others (I know one was a bandana). . A CC meeting is a great way to get to meet those names you have been talking to on the boards.

 • 2 weeks later...
I contacted our Passenger Courtesy Assistant for the Sun and she is willing to arrange a room for us, but any refreshments are chargeable. Our group is each bringing a regional bag of chips - (I'm not sure how this got started, but it did) and we've just suggested everyone bring their own drink to the meeting. I think she said she would give us a meeting room on tghe 11th deck.

I have been a part of cruise critic get togethers on five diferent ship. They are really fun and friendships have formed. Then they have cruised together again on other ships. On the Dawn, a Register Log book was left in the Library from one of the first cruises for future cc members to sign into. I signed it a year ago . Sure hope it is still there to use. It is amazing how many of us there are.
