RMM34667 Posted October 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2011 Cruise deck plans dot com states that the Destiny Ocean View cabins are avg 220 sq feet, and the Balcony Cabins are 185 sq feet. Is this correct? I have three in a cabin and want to upgrade from inside 4G. I can get a 6B for $200, or Balcony Guarantee (BL) for $280. I'm thinking the Balcony upgrade is a better deal even though it is a guarantee. I want the upgrade because I want the sofa in the cabin, and I think sleeping on the sofa will be easier than climbing into the upper bunk (easier maybe but probably not more comfortable). Cruise is 30 days away. Should I expect the cost to go down in the next few weeks? According to Cruise Fish Net Dot Com it still has a 44% vacacy rate. Decisions.. Decisions.. or maybe do nothing.. Thanks for any advice.
debster11 Posted October 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2011 You are correct in the size, however, I don't know if all triples have the sofa that turns into a bed. Ours did but I think some have the sofa AND the upper but I may be wrong. Either way, I would take the balcony but that's just me. Either way, enjoy your cruise and the Destiny. I loved that ship. monobrow1 Posted October 14, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2011 We sailed in March of 05 on Destiny remember the balcony rooms being fairly roomy and nice but I dont remeber the Deck we were on
RMM34667 Posted October 14, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted October 14, 2011 I did the Balcony Guarantee.. Very happy with the choice. And FYI.. There is now a casino rate for this sailing (It WAS not there this morning). We had used the 25% off Casino offer anyway, but my sister who didn't can actually upgrade now for less than what I just paid.
firefly333 Posted October 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2011 RMM you are reading the site you quoted incorrectly. The site give the percentage of CATEGORYS not sold out, not cabins. You only see the percent of categorys available with one or more cabins. No site has the information of the percentage of cabins available .. sorry. You need to count the cabins and such to get anywhere close to the percentage of cabins sold out. Ask the folks on the site if you dont believe me. I love your feedback and input! And that does make more sense (seeing my May cruise says 100%). So the 44% actually means that 66% of the CATEGORIES are already sold out? I'm glad I just went ahead and did it today. I doubt the price would go down lower than this Casino rate ($399 for Balcony GTY). If I waited I'd probably miss out. Now I get to enjoy the suspense of waiting for Cabin Assignment!! Hoping I get something good!
RMM34667 Posted October 15, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted October 15, 2011 I didn't have to wait very long. I got an 8D on the Veranda Deck. Midship and near the elevators (good for my parents) and it is close to my sister's cabin. Perfect!!!
Colorado Kat Posted October 15, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 15, 2011 Cruise deck plans dot com states that the Destiny Ocean View cabins are avg 220 sq feet, and the Balcony Cabins are 185 sq feet. Thanks for any advice. The ocean-view cabins are a bit larger than most, since they incorporate the space that would otherwise be used for the balcony.
