Taking baby food off ship?

Hello I will be cruising in January with my 11 month old and 4 year old. I recall the last cruise I went too, in Cabos they do not allow you to take any food off the ship. They threw away all my snacks and water bottles.

As you can see my baby will still be on the bottle. Do you know if they will throw away the babies milk (cow or formula), baby snacks, and kids’ juice? He will most likely be in cows’ milk and I’m planning to put it in a thermo to keep it cool. I really don’t want to buy milk or snacks in Mexico. Thanks for your help!

Of course they won't disallow baby formula....if they did, I'd complain quite loudly!

As long as it's "pre-packaged", it's fine. Bring a small, soft-sided cooler (like for a 6-pack) and you can bring unopened containers of milk, and unopened snack-packs....it's raw foods/veggies/fruits that they do NOT want to come into the country....bugs and pests and all that.

Last March in Cabo San Lucas they were throwing out fruit and 'homemade' stuff.

Anything prepackaged was let through.

If you are going to bring milk off the ship keep it in the original packaging til onshore. Be prepared if the throw it out.

Get Cherrio boxes from the ship at breakfast.

Dry formula is easiest.

Bottled water is cheaper onshore than onboard.

If you have the time go to a supermarket in Mexico. We always find cheap souvenirs and good liquor prices in the markets.

The milk is pasteurized.

Our DDs have been going to Mexico since they were 6 weeks old and never had a problem drinking the milk or eating when they got older.

ACK! Just make sure it is pre-packaged and kept in the original containers.

Now, with that being said, you probably ARE going to have a hard time getting the "milk in a thermos" off the ship.

When my kids were that age, I took SEALED bottles of water with me off the ship. Try sealed bottles of baby juice.

Everything has to be pre-packaged - that's the key. If its not, they will start throwing it away. And no fresh fruits, meats, etc.

I would imagine it would be fine. Your baby would have nothing to eat while in port so I believe that baby formula would be allowed and also jarred food as long as its not open. The rule is there to prevent transmission of fruit/veggie based diseases that could destroy crops.

If your little one will not be drinking formula at that time try and pick up a couple containers of shelf stable milk before you leave. You can find them in juice box sizes that way it is sealed and does not need refridgeration.

Any idea what they would say about pumped breast milk? I'm an exclusive pumper (my little one has problems with nursing).
