PV Botanical Gardens

Yes we have been there various times. The garden is very nice and their restaurant is great with view over the gardens.

We drive our own car there, but the bus to El Tuito makes a stop in front of the gardens.

This bus leaves from the southside of Puerto vallarta.

You can take either one of the local buses to Centro, walk about 2 streets and get the other bus. Check this map by JR of PV southside:

http://vallartainfo.com/south.html

Or take a cab to get to the bus and/or to the gardens.

Always make your price with the cabdriver before entering, the price is for all persons.

The yellow cabs at the highway are less expensive then those at the cruiseterminal. Those cabs charge per person.

A 3rd option might be to hire a driver (either in advance or at the dock) and make a tour out of it, maybe together with some of your fellow-passengers.

I cannot check the gardens website right now, but you will find more information there too.

taking the bus is easy enough. The buses depart fromn the corner of Carranza and Aguacate. They say El Tuito and Botanical Gardens on the windshield. Tell the Driver Botanical Gardens.

On the way back you have to catch the bus on the other side of the HWY- not much room there so be careful when crossing and waiting.

How far is it to the Gardens from the port? About how much would it cost to take a cab vs. the bus? How about getting a cab back.

Ine - About how long would you recommend being there?

Pokeraddict - I've seen how they drive in Mexico. No way would I rent a car for 1 day. I've been there before & agree the view outside the city is nice.

The gardens are I think about 12-15 miles from the port. Their website is working again, check: http://www.vbgardens.org/

On this page of their website they state how to get there:

http://www.vbgardens.org/visitor-information/location/

You will find some paved paths, but also an unpaved trail into the "rainforest"with swinging bridge. Also a path with lots of steps down (and back up) to the river. If you want to see this all I think you will need at least 2 hours or more. This excl. a drink or meal in their lovely restaurant.

The drive along the coastal road to get there is beautiful too.
