lrcruising Posted October 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2011 We have booked our previous 10 cruises with the same online cruise booking agency and have always had wonderful service. Is there any specific reason why i should not book with them and book directly with Oceania.com???

eddmel Posted October 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2011 As the saying goes ... If it isn't broke don't fix it. I'd stay with a good TA.
hondorner Posted October 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2011 Oceania would actually prefer you yo book with an agent. Agents are the backbone of their business and they go out of their way to accommodate them. They provide opportunities for good agencies to offer incentives, but they (Oceania) do not offer any incentives themselves, as they don't want to appear to be in competition with their agents. Such incentives usually include some combination of paid gratuities and/or on board credit. If you agent is not offering you something like that you might consider switching agencies, but there is no real reason to book directly with O. For example, if you book another cruise while aboard ship to get the onboard booking discount (usually 5%), they immediately transfer that booking to the agency of your choice. If they didn't, the agents would be rightly upset that O was using the "captive audience" to steal bookings from the agent. O would also prefer to deal with agents who in turn deal with their individual clients, rather than deal with passengers directly.
