bougiet Posted October 26, 2011 #101 Share Posted October 26, 2011 A couple of observations regarding the Steakhouse – during dinner there was a magician walking around and stopping at each table to show his card tricks. To us (plz remember this is only our opinion) this should not be part of this type of dining experience. We had seen magicians in the MDR on past cruises but never expected to see one in the Steakhouse, unless it was for entertainment for the people waiting at the bar for their table to be ready. In that situation, we had no problem. The only other thing we did notice was the way some people dressed (jeans, t-shirt, sneakers). Quite frankly, we were shocked. No it certainly didn’t ruin our meal but it’s just not appropriate. Again, I’m sure I will catch some flaming for this as it actually sounds like we are quite snobby, but I can assure you that is not the case. I can only attribute how we feel from how we were raised and what was instilled in us growing up. I agree 100% on the jeans, sneakers, hats and t-shirts. The steak house is upscale dining and the partrons should dress as such. I saw the same thing once and I was appauled by what some where wearing and how they were acting. Not a snob either however this is a time and place for everything in life.
carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #102 Share Posted October 26, 2011 Enjoying the review. I remember reading your last review. Sorry things in the casino weren't good. If I remember correctly the casino host on your last cruise was fabulous and really took good care of you guys and your daughter. That is absolutely correct. Her name is Lorraine and, not to spoil any part of the ending, but she is now on the Legend training Mr. David!!!
FloridaLaura Posted October 26, 2011 #103 Share Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks for taking time to post your review. I noticed your husband had a suit on for the steakhouse, my husband was going to wear a silk dress shirt and slack, no jacket, and I have a dress I was thinking of wearing. Will that be under dressed? I dont think I can get him in a suit 3 nights. 2 Formal nights are pushing it lol...what are your thoughts. I can post a picture of something similar to what he will be wearing if that help!
jobell Posted October 26, 2011 #104 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I've never had any problems bringing my drink back on the ship. Don't know what the "rules" are, but they never stopped me and the yards are not easy to confisicate. Awesome!!!! I shall now get me a tasty concoction for the stroll back to the ship. ;) A couple of observations regarding the Steakhouse – during dinner there was a magician walking around and stopping at each table to show his card tricks. I feel like the magician should only be in the MDR and even then I find it slightly annoying. I also feel that there should be no jeans or sneakers in the steakhouse. I don't care if they are brand new, no holes in them jeans, I am PAYING for the privelage to dine in the steakhouse and expect a certain level of class. But then again, as you said, it is how some of us are raised. ;)

A jacket is not needed. I think some people use the steakhouse as a special meal in addition to the formal nights so they might dress a little nicer than say a dress and button down/dress pants. :D

If our luggage permitted, he would probably wear one ever night.
carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #109 Share Posted October 26, 2011 Day 5 – Roatan We left a hang tag on the door the night before and ordered bagels and coffee from room service to be delivered around 7:45am. We looked outside and couldn’t believe what we were seeing. Our beautiful Roatan was being poured on. We’ve been here several times and this is the first time it had rained here while we were in port.
carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #110 Share Posted October 26, 2011 We drank our coffee and sat on the balcony for about an hour when the rain started to subside. We made our way down to the gangway and off the ship we went. We walked around the shops for a while and then found the free WiFi spot and checked our emails. This is when we found out that John Heald had indeed contacted several people on the ship from Casino Management to Wee Jimmy and apparently asked them to find out what was going on. GeorgiaMomof4 Posted October 26, 2011 #111 Share Posted October 26, 2011 Dinner, tonight, seemed endless. We really didn’t have a problem with this because it was the first night. However, when it got to be close to 10pm and we were not finished yet, I started getting kind of upset as I knew we were going to miss the beginning of the Welcome Aboard Show and I really love seeing that. We finally finished and we indeed missed the beginning of the show but watched the last half anyway. This was my brother's first experience with Chocolate Melting Cake - the pictures speak for themselves. Ahhh! A man after my own heart! Great review so far - we are hopefully going next October - if my husband's job situation works out! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #112 Share Posted October 26, 2011 Well, the sun finally came out around 11am so we headed to the beach. We love it here and just hanging out at MahoganyBeach. We found a few chairs and made ourselves comfortable. I rented a raft for, I think, $6. After a while, I saw my brother and told him that we had two chairs for him and Lillian and they joined us. Eventually, the time had come for us to head back to the ship, but we stopped at Fat Tuesday’s for one last drink. We were supposed to be on the ship by 2:30pm and we just made it. However, there were many others that got on after us, so we didn’t feel too bad.

crusinpsychRN Posted October 26, 2011 #115 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I just wrote an article about why they CC removes some posts to another CC form and one thing I pointed out was they allow reviews to be placed on this thread. These reviews should be removed and placed in the appropriate CC form. I still stand behind what I said this morning CC dose not obey there own rules and guidelines. I was notified this from LAURA in an e-mail, and sure I will be banned and dont't realy care. Rules are rules. What do you mean? We've always had reviews on Carnival site. crusinpsychRN Posted October 26, 2011 #117 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I was on this cruise too and had issues with hot food not being hot, cold food not cold. I really don't like a room temp salad, it's so much better chilled. The crazy way the Lido is set up to get an omelet is ridiculous. You get your sides then have to go around the rope divider where there is room for 2 people to stand in line and not block Lido. There was a lot of blocking. One pan at a time instead of taking care of 3 people at once??? I don't get it. Legend really needs to work on food stuffs. It was a great cruise. The pouring down rain in Roatan was beautiful! The island is so pretty. I don't like that they make you walk through the shop going into Cozumel. I'm not going to buy something to lug all over. I'll get it when I come back. carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #124 Share Posted October 26, 2011 These people above us were pretty rowdy and having a great time when we got back to our room. We got talking from balconies and found out that they were Navy Corpsmen, which is what Brad was. Great people! So beautiful!
carncruiser1964 Posted October 26, 2011 Author #125 Share Posted October 26, 2011 When we got to our room, we noticed that there was a message on our phone. It was from Wee Jimmy asking us to meet with him outside of the Follies Lounge before the show that evening. The ship left right on time at 3pm and we took some time to take showers and get ready for the evening. Tonight, I didn’t feel like drying and flat ironing my hair so I put it in a French braid. I later came to regret that immensely as I forgot just how cold they keep the ship.
