WhenIsOurNextCruise Posted October 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2011 Are there special hours or days they can open for the casino on the Diamond Princess while cruising in New Zealand / Australia this coming January? I read something about there having to be a day at sea between ports in order for the casinos to be open. If true, does that apply only to the two ships sailing in that region or also to the Diamond Princess that is more or less, passing through? paul929207 Posted October 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2011 We were on the Dawn Princess in September & October. As far as I know the casinos opened about 30 minutes after we sailed and were open on sea days.
bobhsv Posted October 30, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2011 We have been on several cruises out of Oz and NZ. Did the Diamond last year to NZ. The casinos on all ships we have been on (Princess, P&O, Star Cruises, RCCL) have opened their casinos once they get into international waters, which I think is 12 miles out from shore. No casinos are open in port, in either Oz or NZ. I believe that Western Australia has different rules regarding gambling, to the rest of Oz, more stringent....but this may have changed recently (??).
