cinycat Posted February 4, 2014 #51 Share Posted February 4, 2014 I've been very satisfied with them. I had to cancell an Oceania cruise two years ago because my daughter fell ill and they paid. And this was just two days before sailing. They refunded my money and it wasn't even me that was ill. So, I'll stick with RBC.
freedom750 Posted February 4, 2014 #52 Share Posted February 4, 2014 I talked to someone that seemed to know all the answers today and here's what I found out about the Bank Of Montreal World Elite MC for people over 65: 1. Rare LHT28 Posted February 4, 2014 #53 Share Posted February 4, 2014 There are so many options I used http://www.rsatravelinsurance.com/ There is PC financial, Belair Direct, Manulife most banks have travel insurance policies The important thing is to read the fine print & if still unsure call & get them to clarify any questions to be sure it covers what you may need
freedom750 Posted February 6, 2014 #54 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Turning 65 has its draw backs including being cut off credit card benefits. I have a Visa card with CIBC which has coverage up to age 74. They just sent me a letter saying that they have sold 50% of their clients to the TD bank and my visa will be transferred to the TD account. I read the rules for coverage on the TD master card - cut off for coverage is age 64. Grrrrrrrrr!!! I think I'm going to settle on the World Elite MC. I thought all master cards were the same but each institution has different charges and coverage. Has any one put together a chart of who offers what? One gives me free airport lounge privileges. Another one gives me no lounge privileges but will pay up to $250 a year for airport parking, baggage fees and seat selection. My sister in Houston, Tx has a great plan. Seems like there's better plans in the USA. Another search is on.
canuck.qc Posted February 6, 2014 #55 Share Posted February 6, 2014 We each have the World Elite MC, got it for the Lounge passes & the bonus of 300 points each which offsets our hotel stay in LAX. & contributes to 1nite in Tahiti. These points can not be combined or transferred...haven't looked at their insurance package. There is no charge for the card for the 1st year. wandrr Posted February 9, 2014 #56 Share Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Consider TIC. https://www.travelinsurance.ca/en/public/Pages/default.aspx They have lots of options and have helped us well on several out-of-Canada medical situations. They will also go very long term, like two years! Edited February 9, 2014 by wandrr corrected URL
